Before heading to Copan Ruinas we will visit the traditional and colorful Guamilito market where vegetables, fruits, meat and spices, but also all kinds of regional handcraft like wooden, straw and leather goods are offered. Besides, you can observe how the typical tortillas are made. During the 3 hours transfer to Copan Ruinas learn about Mayan trade routes, social and political organization as well as theories on their mysterious demise and observe the diversity of landscapes Honduras has to offer. Upon arrival at your hotel, which is located in the center of the little relaxing village of Copan Ruinas, you will have plenty of time to discover it by yourself and enjoy the atmosphere of this picturesque village. 2 overnights in Copan Ruinas. Day 2: Copán Ruinas After breakfast we visit the legendary Archaeological Park of Copán, consisting of two main sites: the ruins and the sepulchres. Learn about the impressive 63-step stairway with over 2,500 hieroglyphs and the masterfully carved stelae. Appreciate to its full the significant number of ruins surrounded by giant trees that provide shades all over the site. In the afternoon, we visit the Chortí community of La Pintada, for a look at the lifestyle of the direct descendants of the Mayas. Day 3: Copán Ruinas - San Pedro Sula The Maya developed into the New World's most sophisticated ancient civilization. The city-state of Copán became the Maya's crowning artistic achievement, the cultural apex of Maya civilization. In the morning we visit Las Sepulturas - a residential and burial site of the Mayan nobles. Before returning to San Pedro Sula we also visit a bird reserve that cares for rescued and endangered birds of the American tropics. 01 overnight in your centrally located hotel in San Pedro Sula. Day 4: San Pedro Sula - Roatán You are transferred to the airport for your domestic flight (*) to Roatan which is depending on weekday in the morning or afternoon. You will be met at the airport by a hotel representative and transferred to your hotel, which is set on a hillside with spectacular ocean views. The resort is located in a protected cove, sheltered by a natural mangrove peninsula and the offshore coral reef. 3 overnights in Roatan. Day 5 & 6: Roatán Days left free to enjoy the fun and sun of Roatán. The island is part of the second largest coral reef in the world and therefore a paradise for divers and snorkelers. Already during diving courses attention is paid to a gentle handling of the reef and its inhabitants. Besides diving, snorkeling and swimming many other sport activities can be practiced on the island for instance kayaking, water-ski, jet-ski, para-sailing, beach volleyball and horse riding. We would be pleased to organize additional activities for you such as an island-tour, the visit of a dolphin show, a dolphin encounter, canopy etc. Your hotel is also an excellent place for sunbathing and relaxing as the beaches of Roatan are among the most beautiful ones in Central America and the Caribbean. Day 7: Roatán - San Pedro Sula Morning transfer to the airport in Roatan for your return flight (*) to San Pedro Sula in time for your international departure flight.
