Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Your driver and guide pick you up at Juan Santamaria International Airport and take you to spend the night at the Costa Rica Marriot, a colonial style hotel in the middle of a coffee plantation or similar.

Day 2: Explore a Coffee Plantation, where you learn about what has traditionally been Costa Rica's most important crop. In the afternoon, visit majestic Poas Volcano and a working dairy farm in the area.

Day 3: Make a pilgrimage to Cartago, where the Virgin de Los Angeles is said to have appear appeared to an indigenous girl in the 15th Century, and visit the church built in honor of the apparition. Continue to the town of Turrialba, and spend the night in elegant plantation inn Cass Turire on the banks of Lake Angostura.

Day 4: Cooking lessons in the tiny village of Tucurrique! Learn to make tortillas and other Costa Rican dishes. In the afternoon, visit Guayabo national Monument our country's most important pre-Columbian archeological site.

Day 5: Learn about modern indigenous life through a tour Kekoldi indigenous reserve, guided by a Kekoldi leader. Spend the night Casa Camarona, a beachfront hotel only steps from the warm Caribbean Sea.

Day 6: Swim, stroll on the beach or lounge in the sun in the morning. In the afternoon, hike in Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Reserve, where you may see monkeys and other wildlife.

Day 7: Fly from Limon to Guanacaste-home of Costa Rica's ranches and beautiful beaches. Spend the night at elegant resort Cala Luna, near the lively beach town of Tamarindo. Your afternoon is free to visit the town or enjoy the beach.

Day 8: In the artisan village of Guaitil, try your hand at making pottery-using techniques developed by Chorotega Indians centuries ago. After the workshop, shop for souvenirs in the pottery shops in Guatil.

Day 9: Visit Santa Rosa National Park, which conserves tropical dry forest and was the site of two of Costa Rica's most important battles. Stop in the city of Liberia, the hub for the northwest agricultural region, and spend the night at working cattle ranch Las Espuelas.

Day 10: Return to San Jose, where you spend the night at the small exclusive downtown Hotel in San Jose.

Day 11: Visit the capital city's Gold Museum, National or Jade Museum, and take a walking tour of the city. After a farewell dinner at Tiquicia, which specializes in Costa Rican typical food, spend the night at Grano de Oro. We take you to the Juan Santamaria International Airport the next morning, where you catch your flight home.
