Six days of dirt riding, with various levels of difficulty. We have never ever had a complaint that there wasn't enough dirt riding. You have the possibility to choose of two areas: Mae Hong Sorn / Pai (including a visit to the longneck Karen), or Mae Ai / Chiang Rai (more pubs for the evenings).
On day 1, 4 and 6 we can choose to a large degree how much and how easy / difficult we want to ride. The other three days we have to sort of "get from A to B", but still have a choice of routes. That way we can adjust the tour to different group riding skills, demands and the dry / wet season. Usually there is a 10 - 40 km road section before the dirt starts, and then at the end of the day another 10 - 40 km road section to get to the destination. Time wise the dirt sections make up 60 to 90% of the day, depending on the route. However, road sections are usually also quite enjoyable (narrow mountain roads with lots of curves). Depending on weather conditions or other factors tour itinerary could change. Our Enduro tours start and finish in Chiang Mai. The first and last days are arrival and departure days. Tour Itinerary 1 Day 1: Warm-up ride in the Chiang Mai area Day 2: Chiang Mai - Mae Hong Sorn Day 3: Mae Hong Sorn - Pai Day 4: local ride in the Pai area Day 5: Pai - Chiang Dao Day 6: Chiang Dao - Chiang Mai Tour Itinerary 2 Day 1: Warm-up ride in the Chiang Mai area Day 2: Chiang Mai - Phrao Day 3: Phrao - Mae Ai Day 4: Mae Ai - Chiang Rai Day 5: Chiang Rai - Mae Suay Day 6: Mae Suay - Chiang Mai Arrival, departure: Our Enduro tours start and finish in Chiang Mai. The first and last day are arrival and departure days. For the arrival day we recommend that you arrive on an early flight (before noon or earlier if possible), then we have enough time to sort out payment, paperwork, bikes, riding gear and go for a warm-up ride up Doi Suthep. This is the mountain next to Chiang Mai, which peaks at 1,685 metres. Doi Suthep offers very good riding at various levels of difficulty. For the departure day we recommend that you leave on a late afternoon or evening flight (7 pm or later), then we can fit some more dirt riding in on the way back to Chiang Mai. We usually spend the last night in Chiang Dao, which is 80kms north of Chiang Mai. If your flight leaves at noon or early afternoon, we go straight back to Chiang Mai on the main tarmac road. If your flight is in the late afternoon or evening, we can ride more dirt roads on the way back. Our Enduro 6 tour is 6 days and 5 nights. If your tour starts e.g. on the 11th, the last day would be the 16th, with 5 nights in between. If you have enough time, we suggest you book additional nights before / after the tour to have more riding time on the first / last day. Please let us know and we can arrange the bookings. Riding speed, group formation: We're not racing - we are touring on public roads, trails and single tracks. There are other riders (hill tribe people on their bikes), as well as pickup trucks, hill tribe people on foot, buffaloes, cattle etc. Sometimes there has been a land slide, part of the trail is missing or there are logs across the trail - always be prepared to stop immediately. Keep in mind that you are not riding alone - accidents can ruin the holiday for the whole group. Always ride at safe speed, within your riding skills. You can stop any time for photographs, video etc. Our lead rider rides in front of the group, and our sweep rider in the back, with the group in between. Our 4WD Toyota truck with luggage and spares goes ahead to the destination and stands by in case of problems. Although this is rare, when a bike develops a problem or expires, it usually does so on tour and not in the garage, and in this case the sweep rider and the dead bike will go on the 4WD, in order to keep the whole group riding. We aim for arrival times of around 16:30 at our destinations, which gives us a good safety margin in case things go wrong, and one or two hours of daylight exploring time at the destination when everything goes right. We always have to figure safety margins in - tyres go flat, bikes get drowned in river crossings, trails are blocked for the 4WD, and sunset is at 18:30. You need a national (from your country of residence) or international motorcycle driver’s license. Notes: Included:
