Croatia is, being a continental mountainous and Mediterranean country, rich in various species of birds. Many of these species are today rare and endangered in Europe. For the birders, highly interesting would be the coastal area, where different Mediterranean varieties are to be spotted. As Croatia is stretching over the central and partially west-European migration corridors, in the spring and in the fall intensive migrations, especially of raptors, take place in the most of the coastal habitats. The coast is also an important wintering area for a large number of species.

The protected areas of the coast are of special interest, such as the Nature Park Velebit, Nature Park Vransko Lake, National Park Paklenica, ornithological reserve Velo and Kolansko blato on the island of Pag, and the territory of the river Zrmanja, therefore we have chosen exactly these areas for this particular program here presented. Off course, shorter trips, visits to alternative Croatian birding destinations and generally tailor-made tours are available by request.

Spring Tour Itinerary:

Day 1 - Saturday - arrival to the Zadar or Split airport, transfer to a tri-star hotel in Biograd na moru

Day 2 - Sunday - Island of Pag, wetland and swampy habitats

Day 3 - Monday - swampy habitat with flooded meadows and reeds of the Vrana Lake Nature Park

Day 4 - Tuesday - Krka River National Park; in the afternoon, transfer from the lodging in Biograd na moru to the second lodging in Trogir

Day 5 - Wednesday - Trogir area - xeric rocky area with cliffs

Day 6 - Thursday - Cetina River from its spring to its mouth - variety of habitats

Day 7 - Friday - Biokovo Mountain rocky habitat with cliffs - the mountain raises directly from the sea

Day 8 - Saturday - departure

Autumn tour itinerary

Day 1 - Saturday - arrival to the Zadar or Split airport, transfer to a tri-star hotel in Biograd na moru

Day 2 - Sunday - picturesque canyons and cliffs of the Zrmanja River

Day 3 - Monday - rocky habitats and exposed cliffs of the National Park Paklenica

Day 4 - Tuesday - ornithological reservations Velo and Kolansko Blato of the Island of Pag wetland and swampy habitats

Day 5 - Wednesday - area of Ljubac, Ravni Kotari open habitats

Day 6 - Thursday - forest, open, rocky and mixed habitats of the Nature Park Velebit

Day 7 - Friday - swampy habitat with flooded meadows and reeds of the Vrana Lake Nature Park

Day 8 - Saturday - departure

The price includes:
- 7 nights in double rooms in a three-star hotel (For the spring tour 3 nights in Biograd na moru, 4 nights in Trogir, in the old part of Trogir, that has been included on the UNESCO list of World Heritage. For the autumn tour the accommodation is in Biograd na moru solely)
- 3 meals per day (breakfast and dinner in the hotel, take-out lunch)
- arrival/departure transfer from/to Split or Zadar airport, ferry-port, or bus station, transfer to the locations, local taxes, entrance fees in all nature and national parks
