It can be chilly up the mountain; so don’t forget your jackets!
Our journey to the Cable Station takes us through the picturesque City Centre, along narrow winding roads up to the base of Table Mountain.

After drinking in the magnificent view from the base of the Mountain, which is 302m above sea level, it is time to experience a panoramic aerial view from the highly sophisticated Rotair Cable car, which was installed in October 1997. The Rotair carries a maximum of 65 passengers and climbs at a speed of 10m per second. As it ascends the mountain, the inner platform slowly rotates to ensure passengers have a panoramic ‘birds eye view’ of the entire Cape Peninsula...a truly breathtaking experience!

We will disembark at the Upper Cable Station, 1067m above sea level and take a leisurely walk along the ‘Table Top’ to the restaurant. Don’t be in a rush, time stands still on the mountain... Drink in the crisp champagne air, savor the moment and marvel at this truly awesome creation! Don’t be tempted to feed the Dassies (those cute little furry brown creatures) they are NOT as friendly as they look and they bite!

Our journey continues via Ou Kaapseweg & Kommetjie, to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. En route there will be an opportunity to view and purchase some of the most exquisite handcrafted wooden animals.

Cape Point: The most southwesterly point of Africa at 249m above sea level. Where the cold Benguela current on the West Coast and the warm Agulhus current on the East coast merge. The circumnavigation of the Cape of Good Hope led to the establishment of a sea route to the East and subsequent trade.

After a stunning drive through the Nature Reserve famous for the Cape Fynbos and Proteas, we arrive at the Cape of Good Hope to view Cape Point. We have the option of walking or taking the Funicular Rail Car to the summit for the most spectacular views imaginable!

A delicious lunch will be shared at the Fish Hoek Galley.
After lunch our journey continues along the coast to Simon’s Town and Boulders Beach, where we will visit the African Penguin Breeding Colony. This is one of only 3 Land-Based colonies in South Africa.

Because of their donkey-like braying call, they were previously named the Jackass Penguin. Since several species of the South American Penguins produce the same sound; the local birds have been renamed African Penguins, as they are the only example of the species that breed in Africa.

Take your time to walk along the raised wooden platforms, watching the antics of these cute little mammals. After this fascinating visit it is time to take a relaxing drive inland along beautiful scenic roads to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Here a light lunch will be enjoyed after a refreshing walk through this floral Paradise.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is world-renowned for the beauty and diversity of the Cape flora it displays and for the magnificence of its setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.
The Tour ends early evening back in Cape Town.
Overnight Cape Suites

Day 7:
Today after an early breakfast, you will be met by our representative for a full day escorted tour of the Cape Winelands.

Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch (Full Day):
Our tour is one of the few that visits all the areas that make the Cape Winelands unique. We start off with a visit to the Afrikaans language monument situated high on the slopes of Paarl Mountain to get an overview of the day's itinerary. After a city tour of Paarl we join the team at the wine estate for a cellar tour and wine tasting.

This tour takes you to the Stellenbosch wine area. It is easy to understand why Simon van der Stel decided to settle a village amongst the mountains. The backdrop of the Hottentots Holland mountains, the white gabled Cape Dutch homesteads, the oak lined streets and lanes all blend in, to give this place a charm that will not be quickly forgotten.

We then make our way to Franschhoek for our optional lunch stop at the one of the many world class restaurants that have made Franschhoek alsmost more famous for it's food than it's wine...

Includes:
- View over the Winelands from the Language Monument
- Paarl
- Cellar tour and tasting
- Franschoek
- Visit to a wine estate or two - time depending
- Stellenbosch city tour

Day 8:
Day at leisure to explore Cape Town or to take an optional half day tour.

Walk to Freedom:
A walking tour of a township and District Six Museum. This tour offers a wealth of insight into South African history. We look at the picturesque “Malay Quarter”, its dynamic museum and the oldest mosque in the Southern Hemisphere. Discover the unique culture, lifestyle and personality of the Cape Muslim community and their contribution to South Africa's development.

We continue to District Six. As a result of the Apartheid laws, 60000 families were forcibly moved from this once vibrant area between 1966 and 1982. We examine the now desolate area – Zonnenbloem – which was District Six and visit the living museum which attempts to represent and recapture District Six in various ways.

We continue to a Township on the "Cape Flats". During the Apartheid era, racial segregation distorted both rural and urban development and ensured hopeless overcrowding. Few houses were built and instead sprawling shack settlements emerged. We take a walk through a vibrant black community.

We visit children at a local school, talk to the local people, visit one of their shops or taverns, whilst also seeing first hand how the current government's Reconstruction and Development Program is aimed towards building brick homes for the local population and generally improve their living conditions.
