Bathing in brackish water beaches, in an unusual mixture of the Atlantic Ocean and the Amazon River; riding buffaloes, a typical mount in the area; riding the marajoaran horse amid the guara birds as they fish, the buffaloes as they refresh themselves and the whole flora and fauna that share harmoniously the immense floating gardens in which the pastures have become after the rains; indulging yourself in one of the richest and healthiest Brazilian culinary art; getting acquainted with the production of artifacts — having in the ceramics an archaeological legacy recognized internationally; all this comprises the experiences of our Expedition in this land full of magic.
Marajo – a real ecological shrine worthy of being visited and preserved. Your Itinerary: Day 1: Reception at the Belem Airport, dinner at the Mangal das Garcas and lodging at the Hotel Expressed XXI. Day 2: 7:00 AM - ship departing from Belem’s port to the Marajo Island (about 3hs trip). Upon arrival at the island the group will commute to Soure by van, where an “avoado” (a light lunch in local language) will be served and a visit to a typical marajoaran ceramic atelier will take place. From Soure, the van takes the group to Fazenda Alacilandia to be presented with the itinerary and introduced to the Marajoaran horses. 2:00 PM - The Expedition departs bound to Fazenda Camburupy stopping on the way at Fazenda Bom Jesus and at Perseverança and Genipapo retreats. The course cuts through fields, rivers and typical Marajo forests with its rich fauna and flora. Day 3: After breakfast, departing through the marajoaran’ fields bound to the Santa Rosa retreat, passing by the Mangal 12:00 PM - an “avoado” is served, being prepared with game or fish meat. Bathing is available at Santa Rosa's fluvial beach after the avoado, return to Fazenda’s main house bringing a herd of marajoaran and purucas horses (about 300 horses) at the end of the afternoon there’s a saddle contest with the Puruca horses. Day 4: After breakfast, we leave for a buffalo back riding bound to the Roca going by the Teso Comprido and returning to the Farm’s main house for snack a and changing of mounts. Departure on marajoaran horses’ back along with the cowboys for working the cattle in the field, returning to the farm’s main house for typical lunch. In the afternoon, we horseback ride to the Fazenda Bom Jardim for a boat ride in the Camburupy’s motorboat through the waterways of the Bom Jardim Farm, going by the Miguelao and Sta Lourdes holes, returning to Fazenda Camburupy's main house. Day 5: After breakfast, departure in a cavalcade heading to Vila do Pesqueiro (Fishing Village) where lunch will be served and will be visiting the Vila do Pesqueiro Community. Along the way we’ll be crossing the river with the horses swimming along the boat. We will be departing in the afternoon by van to the Lodging at the Praia de Joanes (Beach of Joanes). Day 6: Will be spending the morning and having lunch at the Beach of Joanes proceeding with a Van to Porto Câmara in order to board the ship to Belem.
