Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, 28th of December: Arrival and transfer to the hotel in Bucharest. Individual arrival on the Bucharest Otopeni International Airport. Guided transfer to out Hotel in Bucharest for today's overnight. At dinner we shall drive unfar from Bucharest to the wine cellars of Valea Calugareasca, where some of Romania's best wines are made. Wine tasting and dinner. Day 2, 29th of December: Bucharest - Sibiu. Morning departure for Sibiu. Visiting en route the church at Curtea de Arges. Shortly after entering the magnificent Olt Valley, we stop to visit the Monastery Cozia and free time until dinner. Passing through Baile Olanesti, a spa resort known since the time of Napoleon III, we reach the other side of the mountains. During the late afternoon, we reach our destination of the day, Sibiu. Accommodation in the best Hotel in Sibiu. Day 3, 30th of December: Day Excursion to Alba Iulia. One of Transilvania's former capital cities, its importance was diminishing after the takeover of Cluj as the Transilvanian Capital. Its importance to Romania grew anew after World War I, as it is the very town where the the unification of Transilvania and Romania has been signed and the very city where King Ferdinand I and Queen Mary have been crowned as King and Queen of Romania. A short tour of the town will give us a taste of its imposing history as a Transilvanian capital. Day 4, 31st of December: New Year's Eve. Today we shall discover the fortress-like town of Sibiu, or, under its German name, Hermannstadt. A typical Saxon town, still preserving a part of the magnificent walls and towers which were once surrounding the citadel. Afternoon free at leisure, until evening, when all our guests are invited to the Gala Dinner. Day 5, 1st of January: Leisure day. Time to relax and have a walk by yourself through Sibiu. Day 6, 2nd of January: Traditions in the Transilvanian villages. Today we shall have a closer look at the New Year's traditions of the people inhabiting these places. For a better look, we shall drive to Sibiel, a small village laid apart from the rest of the world in the middle of a mountainous landscape. Visit the Museum for Icons on Glass and return to Sibiu. Day 7, 3rd of January: Sibiu - Horezu - Bucharest. Returning to Bucharest, we visit the masterpiece of the brancovavian style, typical for the 18th century Wallachia. Further drive to Bucharest. Accommodation and dinner in the best hotel in Bucharest. Day 8: Bucharest and transfer to the Airport. Guided tour of Romania's capital city. Transfer to the Airport. Notes: Price Includes:
