Perfect Mediterranean type climate for motorcycling! Travel up the beautiful Cape East coast, visit ostrich farms, wineries, cross numerous challenging mountain passes and overnight in quality country lodge type accommodations. Return to Cape Town via the vast desolate expanses of the 'Karoo'. Free days for you to explore/rest on your own.
Your Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive Cape Town airport from overseas early am. We collect you from the airport and convey to your Cape Town hotel. Relax round the swimming pool or catch up on sleep until about 2 pm when we collect you, take you to our base, issue the bikes and take you on a guided "orientation" tour of Cape Town. Finally we guide you back to your hotel and if possible join you for dinner so as to tell you more about the forthcoming tour. Overnight at the City Lodge Hotel, Cape Town. (B) Day 2: Departing Cape Town we follow the truly picturesque and scenic route along the coast round False Bay to the coastal holiday resort of Hermanus where we lunch. From June to early November numerous Southern Right whales can be seen from the shore here. Leaving Hermanus the route continues inland through rich fruit growing areas to the wine making Hex River Valley and Worcester. Just outside Worcester our destination is on a famous wine making farm in the village of Nuy. Overnight at the Nuy Valley Guest House. (B) Day 3: Today we do the famous "7 Passes Route", some modern and flowing, some with more hairpin bends than you can count and always with magnificent mountain views and quality tar roads with hardly any traffic. Overnight again at the Nuy Valley Guest House. (B) Day 4: We leave the fertile fruit growing region, pass through Montague with its incredibly contorted and distorted rock formations and enter the arid semi desert region of the Little Karoo. Via Barrydale and Calitzdorp we arrive at Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world and before checking into the accommodation visit an ostrich show farm. Overnight at De Oude Meul Country Lodge, (on a small ostrich farm) Oudtshoorn. (B) Day 5: This can either be a 'rest day' just relaxing round the swimming pool; if the weather permits and you are on GS bikes doing the huge Swartberg and picturesque Meirings Kloof passes or visiting the world famous Cango Caves and the Wild Life Park; descending once again to the coastal plain via the huge Outeniqua pass we arrive on the "Garden Route" at its most attractive point visiting Knysna and its beautiful lagoon, the Tsitsikama indigenous forest and a diversion off the main road through two old tortuous passes. Overnight again at De Oude Meul Country Lodge, Oudtshoorn. (B) Day 6: Return to Cape Town via the Robertson Pass and Mossel Bay (on the coast), Swellingdam and Caledon. Overnight at City Lodge Hotel, Cape Town. (B) Day 7: In the morning tour the picturesque Cape Peninsular with the Indian Ocean on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. We suggest you lunch at Cape Point but don't let the baboons steal it! The tour ends late pm. When you return the bikes and we bus you back to the airport. (B) Notes: The cost includes:
