A half day dogsledding adventure in the rugged Almaguin Highlands, 3 hours north by car from Toronto, and near Algonquin Park. The half day tour is perfect for beginners and families with children, but can also offer a fair challenge for those who seek it.
After meeting at a pre arranged location, we will proceed to one of the many local area trails. The trip begins with an introduction to the dogs and equipment and a detailed instruction period on their use. Clients are encouraged to participate in handling the dogs and setting up the teams. Once the dogs and sleds are ready we will set out on the trails for 2-3 hours. A snack and hot drink will be provided, and plenty of opportunities to take pictures, play with the dogs or just relax and enjoy the snow. Several options are available for this trip. First you may choose to start the trip in the morning (8-9am) or afternoon (12-1pm). As mentioned, time on the trail will be around 2-3 hours, but with the setup and introduction plan on spending 4-5 hours. Besides your choice of starting times, adult and youth (13-17y.o.) participants have the option of driving a team of 3-4 dogs by themselves. While most people will choose to share a team of 5-6 dogs with another participant, learning to handle a team on your own is a challenging and rewarding experience. Because of a limited amount of dogs however, only small groups (1-3) can have the option of driving their own team. Children, (4 years and older) are welcome on these trips, and because they arent too long, most kids really enjoy the experience of riding on the sled. However all children must be accompanied by an adult. Notes: Children 4-12 $100.00 per child
