This spectacular journey begins at historic Gympie Station, a tribute to Cooloola's golden heyday in the 1860's.
After passing through the southern end of the city, the line continues into scenic Mary Valley, crossing, then wandering away from the Mary River to negotiate the valleys of some of its main tributaries. The countryside is spectacular with an abundance of curves, gradients and bridges. Steep slopes portray a patchwork of pineapples, macadamias and other crops. The Mary Valley includes the villages of Dagun, Amamoor, Kandanga and Imbil. Disembark at any of these original stations, fully restored and landscaped, where you can enjoy good old fashioned country hospitality. Full Day Tours: Sunday & Wednesday This 80km return trip commences at historic Gympie Station. First stop is at Kandanga Station where a selection of local produce is available. Then, a lunchtime stop at Imbil which is the Valleys largest town. The journey is not complete without a stop at Dagun Station to savour local wine and cheeses, guaranteed to make the rest of your day a merry one.
