Leaving Bangkok we travel North West to the infamous death railway and the bridge over the river Kwai. Passing plantations of sugar cane and tapioca the landscape transforms to jungles and a back drop of limestone mountains. After visiting the bridge over the river Kwai we board a train for an unforgettable journey along the most spectacular section of the death railway towards Burma. At the end of the line we ride on the back of a pick up truck to the Ko Soi National park and to the raft accommodation on the river Kwai, which will be our base for exploring the area over the next 5 days.
The accommodation is run by a Thai family who live on the rafts and with all members of the family involved, from children to adults, you will be truly participating in rural Thai family life. Wildlife abounds in the national park and you are sure to see some of those animals you’ve seen in the movies. We will ride elephants, visit a tiger rescue center, try Buddhist meditation, cook a Thai meal, have a dip in the thermal jungle springs, swim, and raft down the river Kwai.
