Day 1: Arrival Sofia Airport. Meet and transfer to a 3* hotel. Overnight. Day 2: Rent-a-car delivery to your hotel. Departure to Rila Monastery UNESCO site. Proceed to Plovdiv and overnight at a 3* hotel. Approximate mileage: 270 km. Day 3: Full day in the region of Plovdiv – visit the Old Plovdiv architectural reserve, possible afternoon to Bachkovo Monastery (the 2nd largest in Bulgaria). Second night in Plovdiv. Day 4: Depart via Kazanluk (stop to visit some of the Thracian tombs from 05-03rd c BC, the Museum of Rose) to Shipka peak (crossing the most beautiful part of the Central Balkan Range) to Etura Open Air Ethnographic complex, Drianovo, Triavna Museum town (center of woodcarving and icon painting) and evening arrival to Arbanassi museum village, located on a hill above Veliko Turnovo. Overnight at a national-style villa. Approximate mileage 220 – 300 km. Day 5: Full day in the region of Veliko Turnovo – the Mediaeval capital city of Bulgaria – visit the Royal Hill with the fortress, Samovodska Charshia of crafts, workshops and antique/ souvenir shops, Arbanassi museum village with Konstantsaliev House or the churches, Petropavlovski/ Transfiguration monastery, etc. Second overnight in Arbanassi. Day 6: Departure from Arbanassi to Troyan (possible stops at Oreshaka village and Troyan Monastery), then further via Beklemeto mountain pass to Koprivshtitsa museum town. Overnight at a small family run hotel. Approximate mileage: 180 km. Day 7: Return from Sofia to Koprivshtitsa. Free day for own discoveries. Overnight at 3* hotel. Approximate mileage: 110 km.
