Day 3: Chianti wine tour. Pick up at your hotel. We'll drive south of Florence through the gorgeous countryside of Tuscany known as the chianti which became the world's first officially defined wine-producing area in 1716. You'll enjoy the scenic drive, surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves. We'll take you to two wineries, where you can taste Chianti Classico, SuperTuscan, Vinsanto and olive oil! We will also visit a medieval Castle. Then, we will spend the night in a Villa/Agriturismo in the Tuscan countryside.

Day 4: Siena - San Gimignano. Pick up at your hotel for a tour in the "medieval times". The first stop is in Monteriggioni, a picturesque medieval fortress built in 1204 by the Sienese, then on to Siena, one of the most beautiful cities of Tuscany, also famed for the "Palio", the annual historic horse-race and for its Duomo, the art-filled cathedral that features works of Michelangelo and Donatello. We will go onward to San Gimignano, one of the most harming and picturesque Tuscan hill towns. Its towers dominate the town in the manner of skyscrapers in our modern cities. We will then visit a Crystal factory in Colle val d'Elsa. Overnight in a Villa / Agriturismo in the Tuscan countryside.

Day 5: Montepulciano - Pienza - Cortona. We will first drive to Pienza, to admire the "perfect Renaissance city" commissioned by Pope Pius III to the Architect B. Rossellino. We will also have a cheese tasting. Then on to Montepulciano where you can have a visit of the old cellars of the town and where you can enjoy a glass of red "Nobile di Montepulciano". In the afternoon we'll drive to Cortona, one of the oldest towns of Italy, famous for the Etruscan and more recently. It was used as the setting for the movie Under The Tuscan Sun! Overnight in a Villa / Agriturismo in the Tuscan countryside.

Day 6: Perugia - Assisi. We'll leave Tuscany to go to Umbria, a small region of the center of Italy. It's the sister of Tuscany, in fact both regions are famous for wine and olive oil. In Umbria you can also see the traces of the Etruscans. One example that we will see is the Arch in Perugia. We'll visit Assisi, the home-town of San Francis. It is a lovely hill town surrounded by beautiful countryside. Something not to miss is the Basilica, full of art treasures by famous artist such as Giotto, Cimabue, Simone Martini. Overnight in Bevagna.
