Tour Itinerary:
This exciting day tour begins when our friendly and experienced driver/guide picks you up from your accommodation. Leaving Cairns and the Northern Beaches, we travel along one of Australia's most spectacular coastal drives to the resort village of Port Douglas. After visiting some of the highlights of Port Douglas, your guide will explain the unique geographic and historic features of the area on route to Mossman Gorge, part of the Daintree Rainforest. At Mossman Gorge, you may like to swim in the cool pristine waters or join your driver for a guided rainforest walk. Back into the comfort of our four-wheel drive vehicle, we head to the Daintree River where morning tea is provided before embarking on a one-hour river cruise. The Daintree River is home to a diverse ecosystem and the cruise guide will help you spot some of the wildlife including birds, snakes, frogs, flying fox and in the cooler months, crocodiles can be seen lazing on the muddy banks. After the river cruise, we travel up to spectacular Alexander Range Lookout before arriving at our private lunch location at the Daintree Entomological Museum. You will be taken on an informative 20-minute tour around this insect museum and given some fascinating insights into their existence and evolution. After an interesting 20 minutes in the Museum, you will wander over to our private lunch spot where on offer is a splendid barbecue lunch of fresh fish, sumptuous steak and tropical salads and fruits. Enjoy a refreshing swim at our private locations beautiful secluded stream while lunch is cooking or browse a neighboring Butterfly Sanctuary with 100’s of our regional species. After lunch, we travel further north to the isolated Cape Tribulation, where the beach beckons for you to stroll along its' coral sands. There is time to visit the Lookout before departing for the Marrdja Boardwalk for a relaxing and informative one-hour guided walk through the Cape Tribulation National Park. It is by visiting this area that you can appreciate the importance of this rainforest and why it has recently been given World Heritage status. Using your imagination, you could easily picture dinosaurs trudging through this ancient forest. Once again boarding our air-conditioned vehicle to traverse the Alexander Range where you will see the rare and primitive King Ferns growing in abundance. We then cross the Daintree River by Cable Barge and enjoy a leisurely drive back to Cairns with spectacular views of the Coral Sea. We say farewell to you when we return you to your accommodation doorstep. The tour arrives back in Port Douglas at approximately 5:20 pm and in Cairns at approximately 6:20 pm. Naturalist, David Attenborough, best described his time spent in the Daintree Rainforest as "One of the most magical experiences of my life". We will help ensure that you have the same experience.
