The Atherton Tablelands to the west of Cairns offers a variety of scenery, from rain forest to dry outback.
Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Rain forest ride to waterhole. Optional swim. Day 2: Over Herberton Range, via spectacular lookout, to camp. Day 3: Follow Stock Route from cattle droving days. Camp on large river, possible swim. Day 4: Into tin-mining country, magnificent mountain-top view. Day 5: Into Irvine bank, pop.100, interesting museum. Day 6: See Aboriginal Rock paintings, lookout, creek camp. Day 7: Return to Wongabel Stables. Notes: Camping equipment will be carried on a back-up vehicle. Breakfast and evening meals are cooked in camp by an expert caterer. Lunch is carried on your horse, along with your water bottle. Member discount: Notes: Notes: Suitable horse, saddle, saddlebags, helmets, tents, self-inflating mattresses can be provided, Sleeping bag hire at small extra cost. Reduced cost for those with their own horse. Price is for tour only and does not include accommodation in Atherton before and after the tour.
