Tour Itinerary:
SUNDAY: Arrive with Atlantic Airways to Vágar airport and collect your hire car. We suggest you enjoy the rest of the day visiting the villages of Bø and Gásadalur. From Miðvágur you can walk out towards the cliff called Trøllkonufingur cliff enjoying fantastic views on the way. Overnight accommodation on Vágar. MONDAY: Drive to Sørvágur to catch the boat to Mykines famous for its amazing birdlife. On arrival you will be taken on a guided tour to Mykineshólm, passing thousands of breeding puffins on the way. The islands only colony of gannets can be found on the islet. Lunch in Mykines and overnight accommodation on Vágar. TUESDAY: Drive across the island of Streymoy passing the old whaling station Við Áir and over the bridge to the island of Eysturoy. First stop is Eiði where you join a local guide for an easy walk to Eiðiskollur. Sheep are not allowed to graze here so you might be lucky to see the arctic flower Dryas Octopetala. Enjoy a packed lunch en route. Continue along the panoramic route to the village of Gjógv. See the impressive rock formations known as the “Giant and the Old Hag” and the Faroes highest mountain Slættaratindur (882m). Overnight accommodation on Eysturoy. WEDNESDAY: Drive towards Runavík via Funningsfjorð. Enjoy a guided walk to the picturesque lake Toftavatn, well known for its heather covered slopes and surrounding banks. Packed lunch en route. In Søldarfjørður you have the opportunity to visit a unique private garden where coffee and cake is served. Drive via Tórshavn to the harbour Gamlarætt to catch the ferry to Sandoy. Overnight accommodation on Sandoy. THURSDAY: Guided walk from the village of Sandur to the lake Gróthúsvatn and out to the sand dunes to see the many varieties of wild flowers such as the Orchis maculata and moss. You will be amazed how your senses react to the amazing nature. Refreshments in the village and overnight accommodation on the island. FRIDAY: Return to Tórshavn. Take the early evening ferry to Nólsoy where a guide will be waiting to take you to Kaffistovan, your accommodation for the night. Take a walk through the village before dinner and afterwards you will be collected by the same guide who will take you to see the Storm Petrel colony. This tour is from 22.00 – 02.00. Overnight on Nólsoy. SATURDAY: Return from Nólsoy with the ferry and the rest of the day is free. We suggest a visit to the Natural History Museum, the History Museum and the Open-Air Museum which is situated in an area of natural beauty close to the old village of Hoyvík. Overnight accommodation in Tórshavn. SUNDAY: Return the hire car in time for your flight with Atlantic Airways. ITINERARY: Independent tour with car 8 days/7 nights START DAY: Sunday PRICE INCLUDES: Return flight to the Faroe Islands with Atlantic Airways and taxes.
