On arrival at the lodge in Kleinbaai, which is an approximate two hour scenic drive from Cape Town, through the wine lands or along the coastal road, and a 15-20 minute drive from Hermanus, you will be greeted by the lodge manager and will relax with a light meal and a briefing before boarding the 10m Dive-Cat deep sea cabin cruiser for the 15-20 minute drive to the Shark Alley dive site off the coast of Kleinbaai/Gansbaai, where the boat will be anchored for about four hours while guests enjoy their close encounters with the magnificent and curious Great White Sharks. The experienced skipper, dive master/medic and in house videographer will tend to the safety, enjoyment and requirements of each of the guests.
No diving certification is required. As the Great White sharks are surface feeders, the activities of the sharks take place on or close to the surface of the sea. While the snorkel method is most popularly used, the hooker system is also available. Diving gear and equipment, towels and refreshments are provided. As we limit the maximum number of guests to 12 per trip, guests have as much cage time as each guest wants for their personal experiences.
On return to the lodge, refreshments are served and the personalized DVD of the trip is shown with an option to purchase the DVD as a momento. There are numerous excellent restaurants and activities in nearby Gansbaai, Stanford and Hermanus for evening dining and entertainment for guests wanting to take up the accommodation option. Private charters, sunset cruises/dives and any other special requests are per arrangement.
We are active members of the Great White Shark Protection Foundation and operate under the compliance requirements of the South African Maritime Safety Association, The Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Marine and Coastal Management and the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association.
