Itacaré has beautiful beaches with green colored water and a village with bars and restaurants. Maraú owes its charm to its exuberant nature and its real feeling of exclusiveness. Situated in an almost virgin area between Salvador and Ilhéus. Itacaré is a different town, regarding beauty, culture, geography and philosophy. Its beaches are so special that until some time ago they did note even appear on the maps. They consist of white sand and have many coconut palms. Its water is green colored.
Its Atlantic rain forests are preserved and create a microclimate, which is responsible for the freshness of the nights. Special attractions are the movement of the sailing rafts, the traditional capoeira and the dazzling sunset, which can be seen from the harbor. Furthermore there are the canoe tours on the river, the waterfalls of the Rio de Contas and the footing on its main square. Recently the earthen road which connects Ilhéus with Itacaré was transformed into a highway, which contributes to valorize the paradise. Maraú is possibly one of the biggest virgin paradises of the coast of Bahia and certainly one of the most beautiful. Situated between Ilhéus and Valença, between the Bay of Camamu and the Atlantic ocean, not far from Itacaré, the Maraú peninsula is a natural paradise, awaiting to be discovered by people bent on adventures of the nature. Its virgin beaches, surrounded by coconut palms, its coral pools, its waterfalls, tumbling into the sea, the fishermen's village and the warm sweet water lagoons, which border the peninsula in its north-south direction, convert this portion of Brazil into an extremely privileged place. Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Ilhéus - Itacaré. From Ilhéus, transfer to Itacaré by highway. Arrival at Itacaré and lodging. Day 2: Itacaré (trips included). Hawaizinho beach and Tijuipe Waterfall. The van of the hotel takes us to the beginning of the trail. Altogether it is about 25 minutes of walking on a road within the Atlantic forest. The Hawaizinho beach distinguishes itself for being a desert beach, with big waves and coconut palms, which means that it is quite an attraction for those who are fond of surfing. To complete the landscape, there is a river with clean water which flows into a wild sea. The next attraction to be visited is the Tijuipe waterfall, with a 4 meters drop, a big natural pool, deep and with crystal-clear water, an ideal spot for diving. A trip by boat until the Cleandro Waterfall Right away after breakfast we walk to the Concha beach, where the Contas River meets with the sea. We take a rowing boat and go up the Contas River, surrounded by the beautiful scenery of its shores. The boat penetrates silently into the branches of the river and allows us to listen the humming of its innumerable birds. We drive by mangrove swamps with many blue and red crabs, further on bromelia gardens within the Atlantic Forest. We leave the boat and arrive at the Sitio do Cleandro, where still exist cocoa, carnation and oil palm plantations. From there we walk to the waterfall, of cold and clear water - which falls down in 3 different drops and which invites us to have a refreshing bath. The falling water forms a real natural shower, which relaxes and restores energy. After having made good use of the waterfall, we return by boat to the place of departure. Day 3: Itacaré - Jeribucaçu beach and waterfall. After breakfast, we walk for about one hour along a descending deactivated path, until we reach a totally deserted beach, possibly the most beautiful of the region, into which flows the crystal clear Jeribucaçu river. While we were descending to reach the beach, we are returning along the same path and rewarded with a refreshing bath in the "shower" formed by the river. Then we return to the guest house. Day 4: Prainha and Rezende, Tipirica, Costa, Ribeira beaches (Itacaré). After breakfast, we leave the lodge on foot and cross the urban Rezende, Tiririca, Costa and Ribeira beaches. The trail starts near a small river which right ahead forms a nice bathing pool. In the middle of the forest we walk for about 40 minutes until reaching Prainha, which is a beautiful beach. Here we can sit below one of its countless coconut palm trees, drink fruit juice, relax and enjoy the view. Day 5: Itacaré - Maraú. Morning off so that we may visit the beaches we liked most. Around noon we shall proceed to the Maraú Peninsula. Transfer is made by 4X4 vehicle. Rio de Contas - which comes from Chapada Diamatina - is crossed by ferryboat and one continues on a sand road in the midst of a sand bank, on a pretty adventurous route. After two hours ride we reach the Maraú Peninsula and we lodge at Lagoa da Cassange Lodge or Maraú Lodge. Day 6: Jeep Tour across the Peninsula. We leave for a jeep tour, in a 4X4 vehicle, exploring the peninsula until the Ponta de Muta. Arriving there, we walk along the beach until Barra Grande, a picturesque village with little bars facing the sea. Returning by a dirt road, we reach Taipus de Fora and its divine natural pools. We follow a path in the midst of meadows and Dendê plantations and climb the Morro do Farol (51 meters) from where we have a beautiful view of the peninsula, and Camamu Bay. Thereupon a delicious dive into Lagoa do Farol and a stop on the edge of a beautiful forest for appraisal of the marvelous giant bromelias of the region. Day 7: Islands of the Camamu Bay. Leaving the port of Jobel by motorboat, we discover the most beautiful places of Camamu Bay. They are fishermen's villages like Campinho, Taipus de Dentro or Sapinho, the paradise like beaches and Pedra Furada Island, formed by rocks with a natural ark, covered with palms and other trees. During low tide, sand banks contouring the island appear, turning the place more beautiful, creating various aquariums, ideal for diving and observing marine life. Day 8: Bela Vista Hill (Maraú). After breakfast, a charming panoramic sight of the Maraú Peninsula awaits us on Bela Vista Hill, also known as Cellular Hill. Equally charming is the way of arriving there: leaving Cassange Beach on the Atlantic Ocean we shall walk until Cassange Lagoon where we shall sight the hill. A very special experience is the crossing of the lagoon by canoe. We shall reach the top of the hill by an upward trail, passing through parts of the Atlantic Rain Forest and enjoy a privileged view of the sea, the lagoon and the Peninsula. Day 9: Maraú - Ilhéus. After breakfast, we shall proceed to Ilhéus airport. Notes: Prices:
