Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, May 8: Santiago. Morning arrival at Santiago's international airport. Welcome by Anglatin. Transfer to hotel located in Santiago´s residential/commercial area of Providencia. Neighborhood orientation with English/Spanish speaking guide (nearest drugstore, money exchange, shops, supermarket, etc.). Welcome drink in hotel. Time to rest, relax and freshen up. Comprehensive city tour featuring the most famous historical sites, commercial centers, typical neighborhoods and Santiago’s largest wine shop. Visit El Pueblito de los Dominicos, an artisan's community that offers traditional and contemporary handcrafts. In the evening, a welcome dinner with a selection of fine Chilean red wines. Overnight Santiago. Includes: (D). Day 2, May 9: Santiago. Buffet breakfast. Visit Maipo Valley. Overnight Santiago. Day 3, May 10: Santiago/Valparaíso/Viña del Mar. Buffet breakfast. Continue south to Viña del Mar, Chile’s top beach resort. Hotel check-in. Comprehensive guided tour of the Heritage for Humanity city, Valparaiso, the port of Valparaiso, and the Garden City of Viña del Mar. Overnight Viña del Mar. Includes: (B, L). Day 4, May 11: Valparaíso/Viña del Mar. Buffet breakfast. Continue to William Cole winery including the vineyards, winery, wine tasting and lunch. William Cole has been producing wine in Chile for many years and is a perfect example of the Chilean winery style. Visit Indomita winery for a spectacular view of the Casablanca valley, one of the newest appellations in Chile. Overnight Viña del Mar. Includes: (B, L). Day 5, May 12: Valparaíso/Aeropuerto/La Serena. Buffet breakfast. Continue to the Santiago international airport and connect to homeward bound flights. Overnight Elqui Valley/ Hotel Elquí Domos. Includes: (B, L). Day 4, May 13: Valle del Elquí. Buffet breakfast. Excursion to the end of the Elquí valley, climbing through muscatel vineyards reaching for the stars, and passing quiet rural villages clinging to the mountainsides. Snow melt from the Andes waters these green patches in the desert and large nylon curtains protect the fruit from daily winds that blast down the mountains. Visit the Montegrande memorial and former school house of Gabriela Mistral. Visit distillery and learn how the muscatel grapes are fermented into wine, and then distilled and aged in wood barrels to produce the national drink, pisco. Lunch at the distillery. Stroll around the square, peek inside the ancient chapel, and feel the mystical spirits of the dry mountain air. Return to La Serena. Overnight Elqui Valley Hotel Elquí Domo. Includes: (B, L). Day 5, May 14, Valle del Elquí/Vicuña. Buffet breakfast. Excursion to Vicuña, famous as the home of Gabriela Mistral, one of Chile’s most beloved writers and a Nobel Prize winner. Vicuña offers a beautiful desert style church, a museum of entomology and natural history, and a museum of antique furniture, books, clothes and other household items from the 18th and 19th centuries. Lunch in typical Vicuña neighborhood restaurant. Guided tour of the Gabriela Mistral museum. After sunset, participate in the scientific program at the astronomical observatory Pangue, including an opportunity to view the heavens through powerful telescopes. Overnight Elqui Valley Hotel Elquí Domo. Includes: (B, L). Day 6, May 15, Valle del Elquí/La Serena. Free time. Overnight La Serena Club. Includes: (B, L). Day 7, May 16: La Serena/Santiago.
