Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: North Argentina – La Quiaca/Villazon – Uyuni. Travel from Villazon by train to Uyuni. Overnight in hotel. Day 2: Uyuni Salt Flats. Visit the train cemetery, travel on to Colchani to see the production of artisan products from salt, you will cross this natural marvel to Incahuasi Island. Then visit the mummies at Coqueta and return to Uyuni. Overnight in hotel. Include: (B, L). Day 3: Uyuni – Potosi – City tour. Travel across branches of the Andes with beautiful landscapes, old mines and indigenous populations until you arrive at Potosi. Afternoon city tour visiting the Mint, colonial churches and Santa Teresa museum. Include: (B, L). Day 4: Cerro Rico Mine – Travel to Sucre. Visit the mine to see the production of silver in the famous Cerro Rico hill. Afternoon take the bus to Sucre (3 hours), a pretty colonial city located in the valleys. Include: (B). Day 5: City tour – Dinosaur Park. City tour, visiting the cathedral, the Recoleta church and its museums, the cemetery and the indigenous textile museum of ASUR. Afternoon visit to see the dinosaur footprints in Cal Orck’o and visit the dinosaur park. Include: (B). Day 6: Flight Sucre – Santa Cruz – City tour. Flight to Santa Cruz. Walk around the city in the afternoon, visiting the zoo which homes regional fauna and various animals in danger of extinction, museums, main monuments, residential area, and a stroll through the La Recoba artisan park. Include: (B). Day 7: Santa Cruz – San Javier – Concepcion. Travel across the prairie of Chiquitana, passing Rio Grande towards San Javier and its pretty mission church. Then cross open savannah to Concepcion, the major mission center, with its impressive Jesuit church. Overnight in hotel. Include: (B, L). Day 8: Concepcion – Santa Cruz. Morning to enjoy the town; visit the biggest workshop dealing with the reconstruction of the missions. Return to Santa Cruz and overnight in hotel. Include: (B, L). Day 9: Samaipata and Amboro National Park. Travel through Mairana to La Yunga in the Amboro NP, with its forest of giant ferns through which you will walk appreciating its rich and diverse jungle. Travel to Samaipata with a lunch stop. In the afternoon visit the ruins of The Fortress and return to Santa Cruz. Overnight in hotel. Include: (B, L). Day 10: Santa Cruz – Yacuiba/Pocitos (Bus or train). Travel across the south of the Bolivian Chaco by bus or train to the border town Yacuiba/Pocitos, Argentina. Include: (B, L). Alternative: The Che Route Day 6: Sucre – Higuera. Southern journey, passing through Tarabuco and the traditional market (Sundays only) and Villa Serrano, until you arrive at the town of Higuera, where Che Guevara lost his life. Include: (B, L, D). Day 7: Higuera – Valle Grande. Walk through Quebrada del Yuro, where Che was captured, moved and later killed in the school of Higuera. The journey will continue through the pretty village of Pucara, to Valle Grande. Overnight in hotel. Include: (B, L, D). Day 8: Valle Grande – Samaipata. Travel to Yunga from Mairana in the Amboro National Park, to walk through the forests of giant ferns. The journey continues to Samaipata, and a visit of the ruins of The Fortress and then return to the town. Overnight in hotel. Include: (B, L, D). Day 9: Samaipata – Santa Cruz – City walking tour. Travel to Santa Cruz, in the afternoon walk around the city, visiting the zoo, which homes regional fauna and various animals in danger of extinction, museums, main monuments, residential areas, and a stroll through the La Recoba artisan park. Include: (B). Day 10: Santa Cruz – Yacuiba/Pocitos (Bus or train). Travel across the south of the Bolivian Chaco by bus or train to the border town Yacuiba/Pocitos, Argentina. Include: (B, L).
