From the town of Matatiele, we travel north, climbing the Qachas Nek Pass and crossing into Lesotho. We then travel west, across the southern part of Lesotho, initially following the tremendous valley of the Senqu (Orange) river as it drains the highlands of Lesotho. To the south of this main road lies a very remote mountainous area between the Senqu river and the southern border with South Africa. It is this fascinating, seldom visited part of the country that we concentrate on in these tours.
