Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Johannesburg - Botswana Border. An early departure from Johannesburg takes us north where we set up camp near the Botswana border. Day 2: Makgadikgadi Pans - Botswana. Traveling via Francistown the night is spent at Kubu island on the Makgadikgadi Pans for a truly unforgettable experience. Days 3 & 4: Chobe River - Kasane. Camp is set up on the banks of the Chobe River, an area famous for it's beautiful scenery, magnificent sunsets and abundance of wildlife and bird life. We enjoy a game viewing cruise on the Chobe River. Days 5 & 6: Living stone - Victoria Falls - Zambia. We travel across the Zambian border to Livingstone from where we may view the Victoria Falls, walk the local markets, and experience the optional activities including white water rafting, bungi jumping, rhino walks, elephant back safaris, etc. Days 7 & 8: Lower Zambezi National Park. Traveling through southern Zambia we set up camp on the banks of the Zambezi River and enjoy the sunset from the deck overlooking the river. Options exist to canoe and do river excursions. Days 9: Luagwa River. Continuing through Zambia our camp is near Luagwa River. Days 10 & 11: South Luangwa National Park. South Luagwa National Park is one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa. We enjoy watching the wildlife come to drink in front of our camp and an early morning game drive. Optional night game drive. Day 12-15: Malawi. The lake, with its crystal clear waters, sandy beaches and beautiful bays, is surrounded by high rugged peaks and mountains. We set up camp on the lakeshore, swim, suntan and relax for two days. We climb Mount Mulanje, enjoy unique forests. Days 16-19: Mozambique. The scenic eastern highland mountains with their many scattered traditional African villages. The evening is spent around the campfire enjoying the solitude of our bush camp, overlooking the waters of the Mozambique coast. Days are spent at leisure swimming, simply relaxing on the beach or enjoying one of the optional activities including snorkeling and diving. Days 20 & 21: Swaziland. The colorful and vibrant local markets, the social and economic hub of life in the towns and villages, provide the visitor with an insight into the richness of the local culture. Days 22 & 23: Kruger National Park - South Africa. Returning to South Africa we enter the famous wildlife sanctuary of the Kruger National Park, one of the oldest game reserves in Africa. Our time is spent on early morning and late afternoon game drives observing numerous species of animals and birds and relaxing in camp during midday. Day 24: Johannesburg. After an early morning game drive, we drive back to Johannesburg and the tour ends. Notes:
