Shorter stays at either Impandala House or Shiwa Main House are available and they are open all year round, here the itineraries can be tailor made to suit clients and riding ability. There is a suggested minimum four night stay where possible to ensure you really get the best from the Estate and surrounds.
Day 1: Arrive at Shiwa Estate for lunch at 13.00 and then settle in to accommodation before an introductory ride along the lake side and through the beautiful forests for approx two hours.
Day 2: Riding split to early morning and later afternoon rides through the reserve of approx 3 hours each. Today will also cover the History of Shiwa and will include a guided tour of the Main House and surrounding farm, antique farm equipment and original kilns.
Day 3: All day picnic ride around the reserve, riding lakeside and through the mountain forests with lunch at the graves with a spectacular view overlooking Shiwa Ngandu Estate.
Day 4: Early morning ride of approx 2 hours, then depart for Big Five Area for walking safaris, potential game viewing along the way. Arrive late afternoon for short walk followed by bush brais and overnight at camp in the Big Five Area.
Day 5: Early morning walk and afternoon walk of approx 2/3 hours each with relaxation during the day at Bush Camp. Potential to see Big Game on foot and see some of the flora and fauna from a different viewpoint.
Day 6: Depart early morning to return to Shiwa Ngandu Estate, lunch and then afternoon ride of approx 3 hours through the forest.
Day 7: Morning of Arena Polo! Enormous fun to be had for everyone does not require any previous experience of polo, just a sense of adventure and good humor. Using the pitch by the lake, followed by a picnic on the lakeside for lunch, and return to accommodation for late afternoon.
Day 8: Morning and afternoon rides of approx 2/3 hours each, game viewing and last opportunity for long canters and gallops by the lake and on open plains.
Day 9: Onward journeys for departure. End of the tour.
There are plenty of activities to keep everyone busy at Shiwa Estate and non riders are very welcome. In addition to game walks, and game drives there is opportunity learn more about the extensive history of the area and have a guided tour around the main house itself. Shiwa Estate is a working reserve and all visitors can be involved with the everyday tasks that this wonderful estate has to perform.
Our guests are welcome to take part in any of the following activities all of which are included in the cost: Bird walks, Game Drives, Boating, Forest Walks, Historical Walks, Brick kilns and Archaeological Tours, Visits to Waterfalls, Fishing and Mountain Biking.
