Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer: On arrival you will be met at airport, assisted through customs and transferred to your hotel. Day 2: Accra – Kumasi: Depart driving through scenic village and tours to Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom. After lunch you will visit the Manhyia Palace which is the sit of the Ashantis. The tour will also take you to the Palace Museum which were used by successful Ashanti Royals. Next will be the Kejetia Open Market and the Cultural Center. Dinner and overnight – Miklin Hotel. Day 3: Lake Bosomtwi – Craft Villages: Drive to Lake Bosomtwi which is a man-made lake where we will cruise on the lake to one of the fishing villages where we will interact with the villages and the Chief. Lunch will be at the Paradise Lake Resort. Depart for and visit the specialized craft villages. Ahwia where will try our hands on carving, Ntonso where we will print some designs of our choice of the famous Adinkra, and Bonwire for the traditional royal Kente. Dinner and overnight – Miklin Hotel. Day 4: Buabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary: Depart Kumasi for Buabeng Fiema where Sacred Monkeys have been living in harmony with the locals. We will have the chance to play with the Monkeys and learn what has kept them there for ages. You will return to Kumasi. Dinner and overnight – Miklin Hotel. Day 5: Heritage Tours: Depart Kumasi for Assin Adadietem Cocoa village where you will learn more about cocoa which is the third foreign exchange for Ghana. You will also visit the school that we are sponsoring with part of your money. Continue to Assin Manso to visit the Slave River which is the last bathing place for the slaves. Arrive in Cape Coast and have lunch at Castle Restaurant overlooking the ocean. Visit Cape Coast Castle which is a slave castle and has been designated as World Heritage monument UNESCO. In the castle you will visit the West African Historical Museum, auction halls, condemned cells, the dungeons and the ‘gate of no return’. Dinner and overnight – Elmina Beach Resort. Day 6: Kakum National Park and Elmina Castle: Drive of Elmina to Kakum National Park, at the park you will go on an adventure trail, a comprehensive guided tour through one of the remaining vestiges of the rain forest. You will experience the exciting canopy walkway suspended on tropical trees, the 1st of its kind in Africa to have a panoramic view of flora and fauna of the rain forest. Lunch will be at Hans Cottage and view crocodiles whilst you dine. After lunch you will do a walking tour of Elmina to the Castle which was built in 1482. Dinner and overnight – Elmina Beach Resort. Day 7: Accra City Tour: Depart for Accra driving through historical villages and towns. City tour of Accra which includes visits to National Museum, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Du Bois Center, Independence Square and the Art and Craft Bazaar where you will test you bargaining skills on the local vendors. Farewell dinner with Ghanaian families. Overnight - Novotel. Day 8: Departure: Rest of the day is free for optional activities until transfer to airport for departure. Notes:
