Highlights: We drive from Accra, our first stop will be Otsew Dukwa in the Central Region. We visit a posuban shrine of the Asafo and some selected homes to see traditional pottery and local distilleries.
Our drive westwards takes us to Mankessim (The Big Town), where the Fantis during their migration from Techiman settled. We visit an impressive posuban shrine, learn about the 3 Fanti leaders; Obrumankuma, Odapagyan and Oson, their role in building the Fanti Nation and Nananompow. We continue to Anomabo, pay a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief and meet some of the leaders of the Asafo companies. After this session we have a walking journey of the Anomabo township to see and experience the 7 decorated Asafo Shrines for a display of Asafo performances and flags. The expedition continues to the coastal Central regional capital, Cape Coast; we visit Abakrampa posuban and see the original Ayewakese which was taken away from Eguafo as war trophy. At Cape Coast we visit selected posuban shrines and Cape Coast Castle and Museum. Take a tour of the Elmina township and learn more about the Asafo's and their decorated shrines.
