Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive Tripoli. Arrive at Tripoli International Airport, transfer to your hotel, and short visit to Marcus Aurelus Arch, the Red Castle (Assai al-Hamra). Enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant this evening. Day 2: Tripoli – Qasr Al Haj – Ghadames. Morning flight to Ghadames Oasis. We will stop at Nalut to see Qasr Nalut granary, we will enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants. Dinner and overnight in Ghadames. Day 3 - 4 - 5 - 6: Ghadames – Ghat Full day excursion to the magnificent sites of Ghadames. Ghadames is an attractive oasis town on the edge of the Sahara near the border with Algeria, perhaps the most famous Berber town anywhere in Northern Sahara, explore the labyrinthine streets and enclosed passages of Ghadames’ old town and visit the various small squares, the old mosque and a madrasa (Koranic school). We’ll rest from our journey this evening; there will be plenty of time for exploring this fascinating city tomorrow. Dinner in traditional restaurant and overnight in Ghadames. After breakfast, we will meet with Tuareg guide and departure on 4x4 vehicle equipped for desert life, sealing on a sea of sand and rocks among dunes, in an endless quietness driving southwards near Grema to visit the ruins of Germa (the ancient capital of Garamanti empire mostly still buried) like the Tombs of the Kings, we will proceed to Ghat. Ghat is a Tuareg town in middle of Akakus region, Full day tour of Ghat. Enjoy the dinner around Tuareg campfire. Set up camp near the dunes and overnight in tent. Day 7 - 8: Ghat – Akakus Leaving Ghat, and will drive towards Tadrart Akakus region, with the most beautiful Sahara, Desert landscapes and with most beautiful prehistoric drawings we know (dating back to 8000-10000 A.C) representing animals that live only in the African Savannah, testifying a habitat that has totally natural arches of rare beauty. The first day will set up the camp in the Takharkhuri region and then we will camp at Wadi Adad (the region of cave paintings), overnight in tent. Day 9: Wadi Adad – Gabroun Leaving Wadi Adad through Al Awaynat arriving in the region of Ramlat Dawada, with its lakes each one with its own particular characteristics. Traveling off road and climbing up moving across dunes you will see lakes at Umm Alma Oasis, and Mandara Oasis surrounded by palm trees and finally the great Lake Gabroun (Gabrun), which is one of the largest and most beautiful lakes of the great sand sea of Ubari. Overnight in tent. Day 10: Gabroun – Murzuk. Full day exploration of Tripoli Marzuq which is a city with a glorious past, at end of 17 century, you will visit the old city with its castle and one of the most impressive mosques in Libya, its curved minaret shaped just like banana. Overnight in tent. Day 11 - 12: Murzuk – Waw elKabir – Waw an Namus Leave Marzuq towards Waw elKabir and setting up of the camp and overnight in tent. The following day you will experience the unique excursion to Waw an Namus, you will go from classical colours of Sahara desert to a gray moon like desert, Waw an Namus (also spelled Wau-en-Namus) which is a volcanic field is about 4-km wide, surrounded by an apron of dark basaltic layer, extending up to 20 km. Camping at Waw an-Namous is thus not recommended. Overnight in tent at Waw elKabir. Day 13: Waw elKabir – Sebha. Leave Waw elkabir through the large oasis in the Zuela region (where you can admire the last landscapes of large dunes) Tuareg guide will leave us in way to Gariat. Dinner and overnight in Gariat. Day 14: Sabha – Tripoli. After early breakfast, departure to Tripoli, leaving desert behind, sightseeing tour around Tripoli, dinner and overnight in hotel. Day 15: Tripoli – Departure. After breakfast we will have a chance to visit the Tripoli Museum and the spice and vegetable bazaar before we transfer to the airport for a safe flight back home. Notes: Price Includes:
