Day 1: Country of departure - Antananarivo. Welcome at IVATO international airport then transfer to the hotel. Briefing of the tour. In the afternoon, glimpse of the city of Antananarivo, to discover its old architectures from the top end of the city, the administrative buildings, and the different flower markets. Welcome dinner at "Tranovola" Restaurant. Night in a hotel.
Day 2: Antananarivo – Antsirabe (170 km). After breakfast, departure to Antsirabe. Stop in a foundry in Ambatolampy with its production of different items made of copper and aluminum. Lunch in Ambatolampy. In the afternoon, we will continue to Antsirabe going past different tombs of Merina. Arrival in Antsirabe, the city of water, touring the city in rickshaws and then check in a hotel. Dinner and night in a hotel.
Day 3: Antsirabe. After breakfast, visit of a manufacture making Malagasy candies and then going on to Andraikiba Lake to visit its kiosks which sells multicolored precious and semi precious stones. Free lunch. On the way back, we will visit a workshop where zebu’s horns are transformed in handicraft and passing by the market of Antsirabe. Dinner and night in a hotel.
Day 4: Antsirabe - Fianarantsoa (250 km). After breakfast, departure to Fianarantsoa. Stop in Ambositra to admire the skills of the craftsmen of this city. Marquetry and woodcarvings are the tangible proofs. Lunch taken along the way. Then moving on to the town of Betsileo with its terraced rice fields, which dominate the landscape. Arrival in Fianarantsoa at the end of the day, going for a walk in the high town of Fianarantsoa. Dinner and night in a hotel.
Day 5: Fianarantsoa - Manakara (by train). Very early in the morning, folk journey with the railroad lines FCE which connects Fianarantsoa to Manakara: the only means of transport in the region. This is another way to discover the population, the economy and the environment of this fascinating part of the island. Free lunch on the way. The whole day will be spent in wagon with the sight of the inhabitant’s lifestyle. The people of Manakara welcome visitors by hurtling in the landing field. Dinner and night in a Hotel.
Day 6: Manakara - Ranomafana (180 km). After breakfast, visit of a local market in Manakara and its dried fish, its fruits and vegetables then departure to Ranomafana. We will have lunch on the way. Palm trees run alongside the road striated from both sides by rivers. At the end of the afternoon, arrival in Ranomafana then checks in a hotel. Dinner and night in a hotel.
Day 7: Ranomafana. Very early in the morning, departure for a walk about three hours in the forest. Ranomafana is a national park rich in fauna and flora. It shelters different species of lemurs such as the golden bamboo lemurs, and an interesting flora, which is above all very endemic. In the afternoon, a visit of a village is in the schedule; the thermal pool is an opportunity to rest after these few days of trip. Rest of the day off. Dinner and night in a Hotel.
Day 8: Ranomafana - Ambalavao (125 km). Departure to Ambalavao in the morning. We will leave the east landscape behind us and its primary forest. Returning to the Highlands and its landscape. In the morning, a visit of tea plantations and a factory in Sahambavy. Lunch in a restaurant near the lake then going to Ambalavao then a stop in Soavita cellar for wine tasting. Finally, a visit of a workshop which manufactures Antaimoro paper ends the day. Dinner and night in a Hotel.
Day 9: Ambalavao - Ranohira (200 km). After breakfast, visit of a silk weaving workshop. Then, on the way going to Ranohira, stop in Anja private park, which is managed by the village community. The story of "the three brothers" will be told once again by the local tour guide. Cattas lemurs offer joyful welcoming and the big granite rocks are so impressive. Lunch taken on the way. Arrival in Ranohira late in the afternoon. Dinner and night in a Hotel.
Day 10: Ranohira. The village of Ranohira is the gateway to all excursions in ISALO national park; this huge Sandstone eroded at Jurassic time. The diversity of the scenery and the fauna and flora makes this place a MUST see in Madagascar. Hiking in the park, going through Bara tombs, botanical garden, and enjoying view, which ends with an oasis of limpid water, will be part of the program. Dinner and night in a Hotel.
Day 11: Ranohira - Tulear (250 km). After breakfast, we will take the National Road to Tulear again. We will go across Ilakaka, a small market town of sapphire diggers. Baobabs and multicolored Mahafaly tombs provide with beautiful scenery along the way. Arrival in Tulear, free lunch then a visit of this administrative capital of the Vezo, Mahafaly and Antandroy tribes, go sightseeing and a visit of a shell market. Dinner and night in a Hotel.
Day 12: Tulear – Anakao (by boat). Very early in the morning, transfer to the landing stage of Tulear to take the shuttle to Anakao. Anakao and its small village of fishers and the island of Nosy Ve and its wonderful corals invite you to go for a swim. Day off. Dinner and night in a Hotel.
Days 13-14: Anakao. Days off. Dinner and night in a Hotel.
Day 15: Anakao – Tulear – Antananarivo – Country of destination (Plane). After two well-deserved days off, going back to Antananarivo. Transfer to Tulear airport and fly back to the capital. If we have more time, we will do the last shopping at the craft market. Transfer to the airport.
