The cruise on the Mekong River is one of highlight trip. The cruise starting from the North of Laos Houaixai to Luangprabang the World Heritage City. The boat has 20 meters long and 3 meters wide with the place for sun deck. It takes first leg 5-6 hours to Pakbeng the middle way and the second leg 5-6 hours to Luangprabang. Exploring the beautiful view of the riversides covered by the rain forest, the mountains, the tranquility, the fish men, the minority villages and Pak Ou Caves.
Lunch can get on board by your own expenses. Luangprabang was the Ancient Royal Capital of Laos Lanexang in 1353. It is classified by UNESCO in 1995 as the World Heritage City. It is a small city, calm and lovely with charm, there are more than 30 oldest temples dated from 15th - 18th century. It is recommended for a half day city tour by walk, meet the local people, get experiences of their cuisine, their tradition, the major temples and National Museum. We can take Public Bus for 250 km or 5 hours to Vang Vieng on the good conditions of road and mountainous with the beautiful view of the scenery of the Mountains and the Tribe villages along the road.
Vang Vieng is the beautiful landscape for Ecotourism, surrounded by the chain of limestones mountains and crossed by Nam Song River along with many beautiful caves and attracts people to come for their holidays. Finally we continue our Bus to Vientiane for 140 km or 3 hours. Vientiane is the Capital of Laos in 1560 (late after Luangprabang). The highlight are the oldest temples, the French colonial houses, the people,their culture and tradition. Wat Xieng Thong in Luangprabang. Pak Ou cave on the Mekong river. Depart: Every morning at 09:00.
Day 1: Arrival Houaixai.
Morning, crossing the Border to Houaixai, meet our Tour Leader who will assist us with our immigration process on the Laos side of the Mekong. Transfer by Tuc Tuc to the Pier. Private slow Boat down the Mekong River for 5-6 hours for our first leg to Pakbeng (the speed of the boat depend on the season. From July to October is the raining season, the level of the water is higher and the speed of the boat is higher, it takes 5 hours but from November to June, no rain, the water is clean, the level of the water is lower, it takes 6 hours). On the way we stop at Ban Paktha checkpoint for the boat document control where we can walk around the local village. Overnight Pakbeng at Guest House. Accommodation, room with private toilet, shower and mosquito net but without air conditioner and without fan, because here at night it is cool for all of the year. Meals: not included lunch and dinner.
Day 2: Pakbeng – Luangprabang.
Our journey continues the second leg down the Mekong River again for 5- 6 hours to Luangprabang. We stop to visit the Hmong village and Pak Ou caves. Upon arrival in Luangprabang, transfer by Tuc Tuc to our Guest House.
Overnight Luangprabang. Accommoadation Guest house, room with fan, private toilet, shower with hot and cool water and mosquito net. Meals not included breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Day 3: Luangprabang.
Option: Early morning, we have the option of watching the monks collecting alms. After our breakfast, we have a half day city tour of the World Heritage City by walk and an orientation for a distance of 3 km included the visit of the National Museum in the ancient royal palace, Wat Mai and Wat Xien Thong. Afternoon at leisure for your own discovery of the city, can be done by walk around of your Guest house and late evening you can enjoy the night market. Overnight in Luangprabang. Accommodation Guest House. Meals not included breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Day 4: Luangprabang.
This morning we take a Van for a half hour to a local Hmong village where we start about 3 hours trek in the jungle, the trail pass uphill and downhill 1.5 hour, the rice field (depending on the weather) to Kuangsi waterfalls. Afternoon transfer back to Luangprabang, visit on the way the Hmong village. Upon arrival and at leisure. Overnight Luangprabang. Accommodation Guest House. Meals not included breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 5: Luangprabang - VangVieng.
This morning transfer by Tuc Tuc to the Bus Station, take local Bus to Vang Vieng 250 km or 5 hours with your guide. On arrival at VangVieng, transfer by Tuc Tuc to our guest House and an orientation. Overnight VangVieng. Accommodation Guest house, room with fan, mosquito net, private toilet, shower with hot and cool water. Meals not included breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Day 6: VangVieng.
This morning we explore by Tuc Tuc Tam Jang Cave and Tam Poukham cave with Blue Lagoon pool. It is possible to swim. Afternoon return to your Guest House and at leisure. Or optional tour of (by assistance of your guide to book on spot):
- Biking in the city and surrounding.
- Kayaking on Nam Song river for 2 hours.
- Inn tubing on the Nam Song river 2 hours.
- Overnight VangVieng.

Day 7: VangVieng - Vientiane.
Local Bus to Vientiane, the Capital of Laos for 3 hours. Upon arrival at Vientiane we catch a Tuc Tuc to our Guest House. This afternoon city tour by Van included: the oldest temple Wat Sisaket, Museum Ho Prakeo, National Monument That Luang Stupa and Arc de Triomphe. Overnight Vientiane at Hotel 2*. Accommodation, room with air conditioner, private toilet, shower with cool and hot water.
Day 8: Vientiane.
Day at leisure for your own discovery of the city by walk. Or optional tour of (daily departure AM 08:00):
- Nam Ngum Lake 80 km from Vientiane, the highlight are the archaeological of Vang Xang the ancient Buddha Statues dated 6th century, boat trip on the Lake, the village of the salt distillation and the fresh market of the village Ban Dong makkhai at price 85 US$ per person included private round transfers by car, one hour boat, English speaking guide and sightseeing and entrance fee.
- Tad Leuk waterfalls in the National Park Phou Khao khouay, 107 km from Vientiane, and walking to the waterfalls 3 km or 1 hours on the easy trail in the jungle. The waterfall has the water for all of the year. It is possible to swim, walking around the jungle by follow up the signs at price 95 US$ per person included: private round transfers by car, English speaking guide, En trance fee to the Park and lunch. Day 9: Departure.
Transfer to airport for your departure flight to Thailand, Cambodia, Vientnam or to the Border Laos – Thailand at the Bridge for Thailand.
