From the splendid Moghul architecture in Lahore, to the three great mountains ranges of North Pakistan. We visit the remote Kalash valleys, home of the Kalash tribes, one of the few non Muslim peoples in Pakistan. We also take a spectacular jeep trip across the roof of the world from Chitral to Gilgit, crossing the stunning Shandur pass. We have several days to explore to Western Himalaya (Astore) and take optional treks in the Himalayan mountains. A fantastic and rugged journey that takes you well away from the tourist track into little visited areas without much in the way of tourist infrastructure.
Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Arrival at Lahore. Day 2: Lahore to Peshawar. Free day to explore the Moghul architecture of Lahore. Overnight train to Peshawar. Day 3: Peshawar. Full day to explore this exciting frontier city. Day 4: Khyber Pass. Optional excursion to the Khyber pass on the border with Afghanistan. Day 5: Dir. We drive north to Dir. Day 6: Chitral. We continue through the mountains to Chitral, in the far north of the country. Beautiful Chitral. Day 7: Kalash valley. A short jeep ride takes us to the Kalash valleys. Hike to one of the less visited valleys, where we spend the night in a village. Day 8: Kalash Valley. A full day to explore the valley. We follow small tracks up into the hills or relax and chat with the friendly Kalash people. Day 9: Return to Chitral. We start our spectacular 4 day jeep trip over the Shandur Pass (3738 m). We spend the night on top of the pass. Day 10: Khalti Lake. We continue east towards Gilgit on this beautiful and remote road. Overnight on the edge of Khalti Lake. Day 11: Khalti Lake. A day to relax on the edge of Khalti lake: you can swim or wander through the village. Day 12: Gilgit. We continue to Gilgit and explore the capital of Northern Area of Pakistan. Day 13: Astore. We enjoy the unpaved trek of the western Himalaya by jeep and travel to Astore (Rama lake). This region offers an awe-inspiring view of the eastern side of Nanga Parbat, 8126 meters high. It is 120 kms away and takes 5 hours to get there. Rama Lake. Day 14: Bottom of Nanga Parbat: the beautiful villages of Chorit & Tarishing A full day to enjoy the stark and magnificent scenery in Tarishing. Optional trek to base camp of Nanga Parbat, the second highest mountain after K2 and ninth highest peak of the world. Day 15: Deosai plateau. Traveling through the villages of Astore (Western Himlaya) valley, you will enjoy the most spectacular scenery on earth. Before reaching Deosai, you will also witness the magical views of Nanga Parbat (8125 m), the ninth highest peak of the world. At Deosai, your first stop will be at Sheosar Lake. This place offers beautiful views of south face of Nanga Parbat and a panoramic view of Deosai Plains. At Bara Pani, you can spend one day and visit the core of the National Park for bear watching or you may enjoy fishing in the cold waters of Barwai Stream. The average elevation of the plateau is 3500 meters. Spring comes to Deosai in July when millions of wild flowers begin to bloom all over the lush green grassland. This is a time when Deosai looks like a paradise with a landscape full of wild flowers on green rolling hills and crystal clear water streams with snow covered peaks in the background. Day 16: Skardu (Baltistan). Is known as the "Tibet-e-Khurd" or Little Tibet since its lifestyle reflects that of the roof of the World and Land of Lamas. It borders the Chinese province of Xinjiang and Indian-occupied Kashmir. Day 17: Skardu to Chilas. Driving on the world famous Karakoram Highway with its majestic scenery and cultural experience we reach Chilas. Overnight at Hotel PTDC. The Indus River meanders along the road from Skardu to Chilas. Day 18: Chilas to Islamabad. Tour ends after breakfast.
