Day 1: Arrival in Paro (Altitude 7,478ft/2280 m).
The flight into the Himalayas reveals breathtaking view of the World highest peaks, taking you right into the Dragon kingdom cloud scraping airstrips at the lush green valley of Paro (alt. 7478 ft). You will be received at the exit gate by our representatives, who will pay host/guide during your stay in Bhutan. First you will be visiting the Kyichu Lhakang as the start of tour for the newly married couple. The Kyichu Temple is one of the 108 temple built in 7 century A.D by King Songtsen Gampo of Tibet as a missionary project to pin down the left foot of ogress.
It is believe that the statue of the future Buddha in the temple is a wish fulfilling statue. So couple can make any wish in these temple.Then check in Hotel Tashi Namgay Resort which is one of the best hotel in the Paro valley. After lunch visit Ta-Dzong (National Museum) considered to be one of the best natural and historical Museum. Then walk down hill to visit Paro Dzong with its traditional cantilever bridge called Nyame Zam, literally means bridge with no fish over the Pa-chu (Paro River). Evening at leisure in the Paro town for orientation with the place and the people. Overnight at Tashi Namgay Resort.
Day 2: Day excursion to Taktsang.
Morning hike to Taktsang temple (one of the most sacred places in Bhutan due to its association with Guru Rinpoche, who reputedly flew to Paro Taktsang cliff in the form of Guru Dorji Drolo, mounted on a flaming dakini-tigress in the 747 A.D., where he meditated and subdued evil spirits). A number of temples have now been built on the site, and these occupy precarious positions, clinging to a black cliff high above the Paro Valley. The visit involves a two-hour climb on a steep footpath through beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. Distance: 55 Km. Driving 1.5 hours (Thimphu Altitude 7609 ft/2320 m). Afternoon, drive to Thimphu the capital city of Bhutan, passing through idyllic countryside, with villages and paddy fields on either side of the road. Thimphu has a special charm and it is fascinating to sit and watch a gathering of local people in the town square, wearing their traditional dress and going about their business in a typically unhurried Bhutanese way. Overnight hotel Miger/Namgay Heritage.
Day 3: Thimphu - Wangdue via Punakha.
Distance: 95 km. Driving: 3 hours (Punakha Altitude 4200 ft/1280 m). Wangdue 1 hour drive alt.: 4428 ft/1350 m. Early rise and drive to the Dochula (3150 m pass) for breakfast. If the weather is clear, the Dochu-la offers the most spectacular views of the eastern Himalayan mountain ranges. We then drive to Punakha for lunch at the hotel. After lunch we visit Punakha Dzong, the most beautiful in Bhutan. Built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. The Dzong is located at the confluence of two rivers, the Pho-Chu and Mo-Chu. We then drive to Nyzergang to visit the Khamsum Yuelly Namgyal stupa. Overnight - Punatshangchu Cottage or Kichu Resort.
Day 4: Wangdue - Phobjikha valley. Distance: 67 km, driving: 3 hours. Phobjikha alt.: 9380 ft/2860 m. In the morning, Hike to Chimed lhakhang, the fertility temple of Saint Drukpa Kuenley known popularly as "the divine madman" to bless the newly wedded for beautiful child. Then visit the Wangduephodrang Dzong, which sit majestically on a steep ridge overlooking the highway those forks to the east and south of the country. The Phobjikha valley is one of the loveliest high altitude valleys in Bhutan. Phobjikha is one of Bhutans few glacial valleys, and chosen winter home of black necked cranes, migrating from the Tibetan plateau. Visit the 17th century Gangtey Gonpa, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan and it houses about 200 monks. If time permits you can have a romantic walk down the alpine meadow passing by the habitat of the black necked cranes which come here in winter across the mountains from Tibet. Overnight - Hotel Dewachen.
Day 5: Phobjikha - Bumthang.
Distance - 91 km.Driving 6 Hours. Altitude: 2600 -/+ m. After breakfast drive towards Bumthang passing over Pele la (11,000 ft) And Yotungla pass. From here you can get our first glimpse of the Black mountains. High Himalayan Mountains such as Jhomolhari are in view amidst hundreds of prayers flags; blessings abound. As we continue onwards we begin to get our first glimpse of the incredible massive dzong - Trongsa dzong; an architectural Wonder! Trongsa medieval watchtower and the great Mangde chu (river) enhance Trongsa dzong in its exceptional beauty and grandeur. We now stop to visit Trongsa dzong; ancestral home of the royal family. Built in 1648 ad it is presently the administrative seat of the district and the home of the monastic school. Built at split-levels on a narrow spur, the dzong offers magical wonder. The watchtower, located directly above the dzong, has on display many interesting armors and other weapons of war used by ancient warriors. Continue onwards to Jakar. Overnight: Lodge Rinchenling/Gongkhar Lodge.
Day 6: Bumthang Sightseeing.
After breakfast hike to Tangbi Monastery. Its a very easy trail to the beautiful village of Tangbi (Thankabi) where the old monastery with its Gomchens (laymen), local community 0visit to Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang, Guru Lhakhang, Swiss cheese processing unit. Here they produce cheese, apple juice, herbal brandies and only Bhutan Honey wine etc. Visit Jakar Dzong. Overnight at the same hotel.
Day 7: Bumthang Valley.
Visit Tang Member Tsho (Burning Lake), Saint Pemalingpa had discovered several hidden treasure from the Lake. Then drive to Tang valley then hike to Ugyencholling Place. There you can see the dzong and museum and cluster village of ugyencholling.You can also see the view of whole valley from the ugyencholling. Then on the way back, visit the only Pema Cholling Buddhist Institute which provides degree in Buddhist philosophy for women. It is founded by 9th Gangtey Tulku Rinpoche. Then back to Hotel. Overnight at the same hotel.
Day 8: Excursion to Ura valley and back to Bumthang.
Distance: 50 km one way. Driving Hours 2 hours. Ura Altitude 4428 ft/1350 m. After breakfast, Excursion to the beautiful valley of Ura. Dinner at the farm house. Overnight at the same Hotel.
Day 9: Bumthang - Wangdiphodrang.
Distance: 197 km. Driving 6.5 Hours. Wangduephodrang, Altitude 4428 ft/1350 m. After breakfast, drive to Wangdiphodrang. Picnic lunch will be served on the way. In the evening, visit a Farm House. Overnight at Kichu Resort.
Day 10: Wangdiphodrang - Thimphu. Distance: 78 Km. Driving 3 hours. Thimphu Altitude 7609 ft/2320 m. After breakfast drive early to Thimphu and then after lunch, Visit the Buddha Dordenma sited amidst the ruins of Kuensel Phodrang, the palace of Sherab Wangchuck, the 13th Desi Druk, overlooking the southern approach to Thimphu. It is one of the largest Buddha rupas in the world, at a height of 169 feet (51.5 meters). You can also enjoy the view of the Thimphu city clearly from here. In the evening, the stroll in the town/visit Handicraft emporium. Overnight at Hotel Namgay Heritage.
Day 12: Thimphu - Paro.
Distance: 55 km. Driving 2 Hours. Thimphu Altitude 7,478 ft/2280 m). After breakfast, to Paro, en route visit Botanical Garden and Takchuk Lhakhang. After lunch drive to Chelila Pass to view the scenery.
Overnight at Tashi Namgay Resort.
Day 13: Departure.
After breakfast in the hotel, drive to the airport in time to catch up your onward flight. Your escort from into Bhutan will bid you farewell and soon the remote and legendary Dragon Kingdom disappears again behind its guardian mountains.
