The Research and Development for M06104 design was initiated after our company director watched the Sean Connery movie “Medicine Man” in the early 1990s. The notion of constructing a series of flying fox runs high in the canopy was ideal for this area, and something Stephen thought attainable for both scientific research and the adventure/eco-tourism market. No cranes, helicopters or other heavy machinery were used in the construction process. The design of the cable and platform system allows the structures to be attached around the trees without the need for any bolt, screw or nail to be inserted into the trees. To further ensure conservation of the natural environment, all materials were carried by hand into the forest. The adventurer starts from ground level and is progressively moved up to heights of over 20 metres whilst seated comfortably and securely in a full body harness. From here the explorer has breathtaking views over the rainforest canopy out to the Great Barrier Reef. With our expert guides trained in both abseiling and biological sciences, we offer an educational, safe, exciting and unique tour for people of all ages. Soaring through the trees like the birds is the most exhilarating way to view the rainforest and the flight choice is yours – slow, fast or upside down, if you dare!
