Your Itinerary

Day 1:

1. Arrival in Sofia. Accommodation at Hotel Prostor (1800 m) on Mt. Vitosha National Park. for 2 nights. Vitosha Mt., which is the first national park, established in the Balkans, is just a few minutes drive from the center of Sofia. Only a few capitals in the world are less than an hour by car or chair-lift to the top of the mountain where one finds himself in wild nature where bears, wolfs, wild cats, red deer, rare and interesting species of birds and plants can be seen. The hotel offers an exceptionally beautiful view of the neighboring mountains and Sofia city, and it is surrounded by splendid pine forests

Day 2:

2. A 3hrs easy hike through the heath covered Vitosha Plateau (1800 m. altitude), gradually descending into the forest zone and reaching the largest Vitosha's river of rocks - a huge heap of large syenite rocks some 2 km long. Due to the golden -yellow lichens that cover the rocks the place is called the Golden Bridges /1500 m. altitude/. Our vehicle will give us a lift to the Prostor hotel.

Day 3:

3. Transfer to Bansko town /Pirin mountain National Park/, with stop for sightseeing at Rila Monastery. In the evening accommodation at DZI hotel /1000 m altitude/. The hotel is at 1000 m above sea level and is surrounded by old and beautiful coniferous forests. There is a breathtaking view of the pine clad mountains and to the snowy top of the mountain from the hotel.

Day 4:

4. Next day begins by transport to Banderitza chalet/1810 m. altitude/, and a hike about 2 hours to Vihren chalet /1950 m. altitude/ follows. All the region around us is rock and stone covered . Limestone rocks dominate the landscape. The soil is poor and the soil layer is not thick and it disappears here and there and one can see the limestone rock underneath. After we reach the chalet we have a rest for our lunch. There is a breathtaking view to the Vihren top and lower parts of the Pirin National Park. On our way back we have the possibility to see one improbable creation of the nature - Black fir over 1300 years old. Most tenacious pedestrians can go downhill to the hotel for about an hour and half; the others get into the car and return to hotel DZI. Dinner and spending the night at the hotel.

Day 5:

5. Transfer /about two ours/ to Trigrad gorge /Rodope mountain/. The Trigrad gorge area is part of the Rodope mountains but it is something other than the rounded hills covered with coniferous forests near the Perelik hotel, where we'll be accommodated in the evening. The first thing that impresses the person are the huge cliffs towering above us and the deep rocky valleys, where one can hardly see the meandering of the Trigrad river. Strange trees of black pine (local subspecies) grow straight from the rocks without any soil. Time and again we are convinced of nature's grandeur strangeness. Well, this is but a sketchy description of this extraordinary site with caves and rumble of the waterfalls. A person can hardly get a real impression of the gorge if he does not see it with his own eyes. This exceptionally beautiful area is 1200 m above sea level. It is approximately an hour away from the hotel in Pamporovo. Depending on the time left we expect to visit also Yagodina Cave, an exceptionally long underground formation. 1500 m of it are made suitable for visit. It is exceptionally beautiful with its inner halls, narrow corridors, and thousands-of-years-old stalactites, stalagmites and stalactons, which descend and ascend from everywhere around us. Temperature is about 5 C so be prepared with some extra clothing. The walk is very easy and pleasant, we are accompanied by a local guide. In the evening our car will bring us in the luxury hotel of Perelik in the mountain resort Pamporovo. Dinner and spending the night at the hotel.

Day 6:

6. Today our vehicle will bring us to the Chudnite mostove chalet /1620 m altitude/ The rock phenomenon of the same name - enormous rock bridges of 70 m of height at which foot one feels a small particle of the awesome nature is close to the chalet. The only way to get a right idea of this miracle is to see it with one's own eyes; it's impossible to describe it. Bedrooms in the chalet have 2,3 or 4 beds with bathroom and toilet for general use. Depending on the time left for the day, short hike in the region can be done. Dinner and spending the night at the chalet.

Day 7:

7. A hike Chudnite mostove /1620 m/ to Persenk chalet /1750 m altitude/ follows. It takes about 3 hours . Venerable beech and spruce forests with beautiful meadows succeed each other. We pass below the peak Persenk /2090 m/ and go on an ancient Roman road which connected the lowland of Thrace to the Aegean sea. Later we ascend to Persenk chalet . Bedrooms in the chalet have 4 -7 beds with bathroom and toilet for general use . Overnight and dinner at the chalet.
