Your Itinerary Day 1: Meet your tour leader, driver and travelling companions at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza, Sandton, Johannesburg at 8am. At 8:30am a scenic day unfolds as you head east to Mpumalanga, "the land of the rising sun". Scenic milestones include the towns of Witbank where coal virtually bursts out of the ground, Middelburg on the banks of the Klein Olifants River and Machadodorp, home to a radioactive spring reputed to have powerful healing qualities. En route to Nelspruit, South Africa's fastest growing town, look out for Waterval-Boven (above the waterfall) and Waterval-Onder (below the waterfall) where the highveld comes to an end and the escarpment falls away to the lowveld. A warm South African welcome awaits you at your hotel at the Kruger Gate, entry to one of the world's most spectacular wildlife reserves, the Kruger National Park. Includes: (D); Day 2: Equipped with a packed breakfast, your camera and plenty of sunscreen, set off at sunrise in an open vehicle for a full day's game viewing in the Kruger National Park. Take a break and shop for lunch and curios at one of the Park's rest camps. The afternoon ends with a return trip to your hotel for dinner. Includes: (B), (D); Day 3: After breakfast cross through the Jeppe's Reef border post into the mountain kingdom of Swaziland. Though only 17 000 square kilometres in area, this landlocked country has an extraordinary diversity of scenery. Enjoy vistas of deep valleys, steep gradients, vast forests and rushing rivers on the way to the capital, Mbabane. Marvel at the recycled glass creations at the world famous Ngwenya glass factory before arriving at Swaziland's top hotel, the Royal Swazi Sun Casino & Resort. Choose one of the hotel's many fine restaurants for dinner or while away the evening at the casino tables. Includes: (B); Day 4: Head for the Mantega Swazi craft market where carvings, pottery, mats, beadwork and many other items are on offer. An orientation drive in the pleasant town of Manzini is a highlight of the trip from Mbabane to Golela, the border point named after a nearby thicket once hunted by the Nyawo chiefs. From Golela the endless hills, valleys and battlefields of KwaZulu-Natal take you to the Zulu Nyala Game Lodge in the Hluhluwe region. Look out for the endangered Black Rhino during your afternoon game drive in this wildlife sanctuary. A fine dinner ends your day. Includes: (B), (D); Day 5: A pleasant last day on the road takes you south through cane fields to the Shakaland Cultural Village named in memory of Shaka, the famous Zulu chief. Get to grips with Zulu tradition in this living museum where Zulus still pursue ancestral customs. Enjoy a traditional Zulu lunch before heading for Ballito, 40 kilometres north of Durban, where the luxury offered by Zimbali, a boutique hotel built alongside a Tom Weiskopf designed golf course, will take care of your every need.
