This is the platinum version of our Icy Bay trip. With the great tidewater glaciers, whales and wildlife viewing it adds a travel itinerary that includes coasting the western shore of Knight Island. Knight Island resilient backbone of granite and basalt offers singularly unique hiking opportunities and the bay studded western side offers endless days of exploring. After spending 2 days in the Icy Bay region we will head south and east to make our crossing over to Knight Island and the spend the remainder of the trip paddling north exploring the numerous bays. Ideally we will have an entire day for hiking. Humpback whales should remain common throughout the trip. Alternatively we will travel then take a day to explore the new area using this pattern to our pick-up on the north end of the island. Knight Island Passage is the deepest most productive water in Prince William Sound so whales and other mammals should remain common throughout the trips. Solitude is a premium feature as this is some of the wildest and most remote country in Prince William Sound.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1:
Trip starts in Anchorage with a drive down the scenic Seward Highway to Whittier. We board a water taxi that will take us for along ride to our drop off beach at the south end of Knight Island. We will make camp here and go for a tune up paddle around camp and perhaps visit seabird breeding islands in the middle of the Passage. Already we are in fine habitat for seeing large whales.
