The tour starts in Athens. After everyone arrives after their flight, we will meet at our hotel to rest and get acquainted or have free time to explore Athens. The following morning we head out of town for the Peloponnese. After touring the Peloponnese and Delphi for seven days we return to Athens for one day and then off to the island of Crete for a week to visit historic locations and art centers. After our stay in Crete we will return to Athens and visit the most important sites, plus allow ample free time to explore on your own.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Fly from the States to Athens and arrive the next morning.

Day 2: Athens. Arrive in AM. Transfer to your tourist-class hotel near the Acropolis. PM: Safety lecture and orientation with our group leader. Includes: Overnight with breakfast

Day 3: Leave Athens on chartered bus with our group leader and official Greek tour guide. Cross Corinth Canal to Nemea (visit infamous stadium, ancient town and museum) - Mycenae ( visit the Lion's Gate, Royal Tombs) - Nauplion . If overnight is on Friday or Saturday there would be the opportunity to attend the performance in the ancient theatre of Epidaurus (at extra cost) - an unique experience. Includes: (B)

Day 4: Nauplion - Epidaurus. Visit of the ancient site of Asclipius and the theatre famous for it's acoustic. Nauplion - St. Arias Monastery (visit an orthodox monastery) and Palamides Fortres - Nauplion (overnight). Includes: (B).

Day 5: Nauplion - Tripolis - Dimitsana - Stemnitsa. Visit the mountain villages of Dimitsana and Stemnitsa. Possible visit of the water power museum or have critiques in picturesque landscape. Overnight in Stemnitsa. Hotel Trikolonion. Includes: (B).

Day 6: Stemnitsa - Olympia. Rest or take optional hike to the monastery of St. Prodromos in the Loussios Gorge. Overnight with breakfast Hotel Europa (first Class Hotel) in Olympia. Includes: (B).

Day 7: Olympia. Visit the site and museum of the first Olympic games. Overnight with breakfast. Includes: (B).

Day 8: Olympia - Patras - Kalavryta - Diakofto (scenic rail through the steep canyon/1 hour) - Egion - Ag.Nikolaos (on the mainland, cross by ferry) and continue drive to Delphi. Includes: Overnight with breakfast in Delphi.

Day 9: Delphi. Visit the site and museum. Afternoon free for critiques or own activities. Includes: Overnight with breakfast.

Day 10: Delphi- Free Day or Hike through the olive groves to Itea and then drive to port with traditional houses Galaxidi. Includes: Overnight in Delphi.

Day 11: Delphi - Arachova - Ossios Loukas Monastery (important monastery with golden mosaics) - Athens - Piraeus. Embark overnight ferry to Chania Crete. Overnight on board in 4-bedded cabins with private shower/WC. Includes: (B).

Day 12: Crete/Chania (arrival 6:00 am). Transfer to the hotel (breakfast is extra). Free time to visit Archaeological Museum, Maritime Museum, etc. or relax. Includes: Overnight with breakfast.

Day 13: Chania. By private bus to the Orthodox Academy to learn about their work with local farmers, women, icon paintings, Lutheran Churches - Monastery of Chrysopigi. Includes: Overnight with breakfast

Day 14: Chania: Free Day. Hike the Samaria Gorge or just relax. Take the special local KTEL bus. Includes: (B).

Day 15: Chania - Rethymnon (visit) - Margarites (visit) - Eleutherna (arch. site)- Heraklion by private coach. Hotel Poseidon or similar. Includes: Overnight with breakfast

Day 16: Heraklion Guided visit to the Knossos Palace and the Arch. Museum. Afternoon free for critiques. Includes: (B).

Day 17: Heraklion. Guided tour by bus to Gortis (on the way) - Phaestos and swimming opportunity at Komos beach nearby Matala. Overnight with breakfast in Heraklion. Includes: (B).

Day 18: Heraklion - Piraeus. Free day in Crete for critiques. Boat transportation to Piraeus. Boat departs around 7 p.m. so there will be free time in Heraklion until then. Swimming opportunity. Overnight on board ferry with 2-berths cabins. Includes: (B).

Day 19: Athens: Arrive 6:00 a.m. Extra breakfast at the hotel. 9:00 Guided visit to the Acropolis, Dionysos Theatre, Acropolis museum (4.5 hours) Afternoon free. Overnight with breakfast.

Day 20: Athens: Guided visit with local bus: National Archaeological Museum with its Art treasures (3 hours + free time in the museum). Optional (fee): Dora Stratou Folkdance performance, if any (open air). Includes: Overnight with breakfast.

Day 21: USA. After breakfast transfer to airport for return flight to the USA. Arrive home the same day.
