Cascading rivers, lofty peaks, and stands of giant sequoia trees constitute the landscape of Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Astounding natural beauty surrounds us as we hike along cascading waterfalls, mountain bike in the Sierra backcountry, learn to rock climb, whitewater raft down the tumbling Merced River or go horseback riding. This medley of activities highlights the best of these national wonders.
Your Itinerary Days 1-2: Kings Canyon - Sequoia We shuttle from Fresno to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Upon arrival, we lace up our hiking boots and explore the depths of Redwood Canyon and the sheer granite of Big Baldy Ridge while soaking in the views of the Great Western Divide's spectacular alpine peaks. On our second day, after a hearty breakfast we hike through majestic stands of sequoia trees in Giant Forest and then via the High Sierra Trail to lush Crescent Meadow and, optionally, to Moro Rock. (B/L/D). Days 3-4: Sierra National Forest Bike through the rolling, oak-covered foothills and through the beautiful alpine landscape of the Sierra National Forest on quiet backroads. Then strap on a climbing harness for a day of introductory rock climbing on the lower granite walls of spectacular Fresno Dome. (B/L/D). Days 5-6: Yosemite For an introduction to California's grandest park, we hike the spectacular Panaorama Trail, with cascading waterfalls, granite monoliths and magnificent views of the valley below. June departures feature a final day of rafting on the mighty Merced River. Fall departures include a horseback ride from Yosemite Valley Stables to picturesque Mirror Lake.
