The double-breasted summit of Elbrus can be seen for miles around from different parts of the Caucasus region. Both East (5621 m) and West (5642 m) summitsare permanently covered with snow. Many of remote side valleys where it is possible to have acclimatization training are seldom visited even by locals. This itinerary is suitable for the partly acclimatized climbers or those who acclimatize well.
The following itinerary is a working guide only and might be a subject to change due to local conditions, weather and governmental restrictions
Arrive in Mineralnye Vody. Transfer to Baksan Valley, hotel.
Acclimatisation walk to the Cheget Peak, 3404m. Magnificent viewpoints over Elbrus. Hotel.
Drive to Azau station. Cable ways up to 3800m. Acclimatisation walk up to 4400m. Night at the mountain hut at 3800m.
Acclimatisation walk to Pastukhova Rocks, 4800m. Return to the hut.
Attempt on Elbrus.
Spare day to attempt on Elbrus*.
Descend by cable ways and drive back to the hotel in Baksan Valley. Hotel.
Drive to Mineralnye Vody airport for the flight home.
* If Elbrus is climbed on day 5 we will descend to the hotel and some valley walks will be organized.
