2008 Dates:
Friday 13th June - Sunday 22nd June, Friday 12th September - Sunday 21st September.
The retreat will take place at Ibiza Moving Arts. The Villa and its amenities, which include a swimming pool, an indoor studio and outdoor space for the yoga classes, a large covered patio, gardens and forest, are located in a secluded spot of beautiful countryside in the north of the island near St Miguel.
Each day will start with a morning seated meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises) session, followed by a long dynamic yoga practice. In the afternoon the group meets again for satsang (yoga philosophy lecture, discussion and Q&A), followed by another more gentle yoga practice, which will finish just on time to go and watch Ibiza magnificent sunset.
Attendance at classes is always optional; everyone is free to do as they please, as long as it doesn't distract the other students. There will be two afternoons and one of the following mornings off from yoga so that you can sample some of the many other delights of Ibiza. Although the style of yoga taught is challenging and therefore its effects so rewarding, previous yoga experience is not essential as the classes will be small, allowing for a good amount of individual attention.
Accommodation: The accommodation in the villa consists of five double rooms and two twin rooms. All prices quoted include yoga tuition, accommodation, use of the facilities and food. Three of the doubles have en-suite showers, one also has a separate veranda in the Tower of the main villa, another is a separate self-contained Atelier next to the main villa, and one is a Mezzanine room overlooking the yoga studio. The rooms are all charming, each furnished with its own fragrant wood type.
Costs: The twin rooms and two of the doubles are £695 /£810 per person, based on sharing and there is a supplement of £200/£235 for single occupancy of any of these rooms. In case you are interested, the owner of the villa, Sandra Morrel, is a yoga teacher herself, and also a first class masseuse, a cranio-sacral therapist, an energy healer and a dance instructor. Individual sessions can be arranged with her separately.
The afternoons will be free to visit the numerous beaches of Ibiza, take trips into the nearby towns and villages, go for walks or just hang out by the pool at the villa. Benirras beach, which is particularly nice, is a short drive from the house. The shopping in Ibiza is very good and there are several markets to visit on the island. Ibiza is a small island and most places worth a visit are within about half an hour's drive. Due to the secluded location of the villa, it is advisable to hire a car.
We have arranged good rates with a local car hire company, telephone number 00 34 971 331 111. The manager's name is Vicente. Please tell him you'll be staying in Ibiza Moving Arts so he can provide you with the discounted rate. He can bring a car to the airport for your arrival time. You will need to bring a yoga mat. Other travel essentials such as a torch, a European conversion plug, mosquito repellent and sun tan lotion should be in your luggage or purchased once there.
Getting There: Flights are not included in the price. BA, EasyJet, Iberia and Air Berlin fly direct to Ibiza. Students usually arrive on Friday evening. The first class is the following Saturday morning. The last class will be on the Sunday morning followed by brunch, after which most participants head back home. Naturally we will try our best to fit the program around students' flight times.
Notes:
Airfare is not included in the tour price.
