Discovered by British surveyor William Cameron in 1885, Cameron Highlands resembled England and it was a favourite colonial haunt in the 19th century. With its cool fresh air and fertile soil, the British turned the highland into a prestigious retreat and later planters adorned the mist-covered mountain sloped with tea, vegetables and flowers.
For more than 100 years, the 1800m above sea level plateau has been popular in offering respite to holidaymakers trying to escape Malaysia’s lowland heat. The fresh mountain air will reveal just how treasured this mountain hideout is, especially for those who want to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the cities.
