TOUR INFORMATION
Kapawi is the largest community-based project ever developed in Ecuador and sets a new trend in eco-tourism - providing a monthly means of economic support and jobs to the Achuar tribes people, as well as a high standard of service in one of the remotest and most pristine areas of Ecuadorian rainforest away from oil exploration and other destructive practices. 70% of lodge employees are from Achuar communities, and in 2011 all installations will be transferred at no cost from the lodge owner to the Achuar people.
The lodge is set within a 5000 sq. km reserve and accommodates up to 50 guests and was built in accordance to the Achuar concept of architecture. All rooms have private bathroom, terraces, sun heated showers, and electricity provided by a solar panel system.
The real beauty of Kapawi is that it is set in deep rainforest affording great wildlife spotting opportunities - including potential to see many different species of monkey, toucan, parrot, anaconda, sloth, jaguar, piranha, and much more. Kapawi also offers a great chance to interact with the local Achuar indian community and learn about their way of life.

Your Itinerary:
Day 1: pickup at Quito airport and transfer to Hotel Patio Andaluz in the historic centre of Quito. Patio Andaluz is an exquisitely renovated old colonial building with charm and character in abundance! It will make for a memorable stay.
Day 2: a full day to acclimatise to your new surroundings in Quito and become accustomed to the south American way of life. Enjoy a full day guided tour of both the colonial splendors of the city as well as a trip north to stand on the equator. Overnight at Patio Andaluz.
Day 3: transfer to Quito airport for your flight into the rainforest. On arrival there is time to relax in the comfort of the lodge and to meet the guides. A delicious meal and night among the relaxing sounds of the rainforest.
Days 4-6: The beauty of the Kapawi itinerary is that it is entirely flexible. You can design the most suitable program for your interests and fitness level when you are there. Activities range from a low physical level, to medium and high and are specially tailored for your group by the guide.

Day 7: transfer out of the lodge and back to the capital city of Quito. Transfer from the airport to Hotel Patio Andaluz.
