Italy for Veterans of WW II, Italian Campaign, their Family and Friends. Join the 5th Army Veterans, their families and friends on a 12-day journey in Italy recalling the furious battles fought there, paying homage to fallen comrades, and reflecting on the bittersweet victory won by their valor and sacrifice. Italy has changed through the years, but the warmth and gratitude of its people, the beauty of its cities and landscape, the taste of its cuisine and wine, has a magical allure that calls us back time and again.

Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Departure. Depart JFK. Dinner and beverages will be served on board.
Day 2: Napoli - Sorrento. A.M. Arrival in Napoli. After customs procedures meet your professional English-speaking tour escort who will be with you for the duration of the tour. After a short orientation tour and the transfer to your hotel in Sorrento a dinner will be served and the remainder of your day is free.
Day 3: Salerno – Island of Capri. A.M: Visit of Salerno. It's here where some of the allied landings during “operation avalanche” occurred. P.M: Time on you own leisure or optional excursion to the Island of Capri its extended beauty. Stroll over the exclusive Isle of Capri and through the relax in the Botanical Gardens
Day 4: Montecassino. A.M. Departure towards Rome with stop at visit of Cassino and the Abbey of Montecassino. The monastery is mother church of the Benedictine order, destroyed during World War II and rebuilt as a replica of its 17th century predecessor. The abbey and its surrounding was sight of four battles that led to a link up between the Allied forces from Anzio with their comrades further south and eventually to the capture of Rome. Upon our arrival in Rome time on your own leisure and Dinner in the hotel or a close by restaurant.
Day 5: Vatican excursion, Rome. A.M: Optional Excursion to the Vatican Museum and St Peters a private guided tour with English speaking guide to the Tapestry Gallery, the Raphael Rooms, and the Sistine Chapel ending the tour with the. P.M: enjoy your dinner either at hotel or local restaurant. PM The afternoon sight seeing tour is featuring beside much more the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Venezia, a visit to the Capitol Square, a panoramic view of the Roman Forum, Church of San Pietro in Vincoli, with Michelangelo’s statue of Moses, Coliseum. and the arch of Constantine. Dinner will be taken in a group.
Day 6: Anzio - Nettuno American Cemetery. Enjoy on day on you own leisure or join us on a tour across the roman countryside Nettuno Military Cemetery and Anzio, a popular fishing port 33miles from Rome and site of a crucial allied landing during World war II.
Day 7: Civitavecchia - Cecina - Livorno - Pisa - Florence. A.M: Morning departure to Florence. Driving north along the coastal road, we will pass the towns of Civitavecchia. We continue up the coast, through Grosseto, Celina. Rosignano and Livorno. As a group we will enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. PM, we visit of Pisa’s main attraction: the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral and Baptistery. Check in and time on your own leisure.
Day 8: Florence. A.M: Morning: Guided (walking) sightseeing tour of the cradle of the Renaissance. Visit the beautiful Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Giotto’s bell tower, the Baptistery of St. John, the Academy of Fine Arts Gallery, housing “David’ by Michelangelo, and Santa Croce, the 13th century Franciscan Church with Cimabue’s famous crucifix. Spend the rest of the day at leisure sightseeing or shopping. Dinner with wine at a local restaurant.
Day 9: Chianti - American Cemetery. Morning departure for a full day tour to the Chianti wine region. Today we will leave to visit the American cemetery outside Florence. A special stop will be made at a local winery, where we will sample some at the best wines. Lunch with wine at a rustic country restaurant. The rest of the day time on your own leisure.
Day 10: Florence - Apennines - Futa Pass - Barberino. A.M: Morning departure towards Venice. We will drive along the en wines and the passing the towns of Barberino, Loiano, Picnoro; landmarks on the Route Map of the 752nd. Overnight in Venice area, dinner with wine hotel or local restaurant.
Day 11: Venice. A.M: Enjoy a guided walking tour of Venice. You will see the Piazza and Basilica of St. Mark, the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge at Sighs and the Prisons. Then visit a glassware factory for a demonstration of molding of glass by a local craftsman. The rest of the day is free to explore Venice at leisure. A beautiful day crowned by a farewell dinner.
Day 12: Homeward. Morning transfer to Venice airport, in time to board the return flight to JFK.
