Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Arrival/Parc National des Volcans Arrive at the Kigali airport, meet and greet, then a two-hour drive to Kiningi via Ruhengeri. The journey north goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Dinner and overnight at the Mountain Gorilla View lodge. Includes: (D). Day 2: Park National des Volcans This morning after an early morning breakfast you take a short drive to the Park Headquarters and meet with the local guides and trackers who will give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. Tracking Gorillas through the lush forested slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. The trek can last from 1 to 6 hours. The terrain is rough and at times muddy. Although the hike is physically demanding, the beauty of the forest and the surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. Picnic lunches are provided and it is important to take plenty of water. Cameras and plenty of fast speed film is recommended. It can rain at a few minutes notice; hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including zip lock bags for cameras and film. NB: We can not guarantee seeing gorillas. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 3: Park National des Volcans Second gorilla tracking day. After your trek, return to Kigali. Dinner and overnight at the Umubano hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 4: Departure After breakfast you will be driven to the airport for your fight out. End of services. Includes: (B).
