Glan Dwr Cottage in Aberdaron village (on the right of main photograph) has 3 bedrooms, two of which have bunk beds and one of which has a double bed and a sea view. The cottage is centrally heated and also has a kitchen (containing a dishwasher, oven and hob, and a washing machine), a bathroom (with shower over a bath), and a dining/sitting room with a TV, DVD player and HiFi and sea view. The cottage is in a superb location directly opposite the slipway to Aberdaron beach and close to the Ship Hotel which serves excellent evening meals should you not feel like cooking. Glan Dwr also has its own large private parking area nearby. There are plenty of good local walks in this Area of Outstanding Natural beauty and there are many things to do when you are not on the magnificent beaches.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival
Day 2: After breakfast we will meet you and ask you to follow us in your own car to the end point of the day’s walk in Llithfaen. We will then take you on in our minibus to the start of the walk at Clynnog Fawr. Clynnog was the traditional assembly point for pilgrims making the journey to Bardsey Island, and contains a fine church, chapel and holy well dedicated to St Beuno. You can then set out on the first section of the walk over the high moors at Bwlch Mawr, which will lead you to the Rivals Inn at Llanaelhaearn for lunch and then up an interesting ascent of the Yr Eifl range and the Iron Age fort of Tre’r Ceiri and then down back to Llithfaen and your car. Distance 14 miles or less if you wish.
Day 3: Follow us in your car to Morfa Nefyn where you will park before we drive you back to Llithfaen from where you will walk past the Nant Gwrtheyrn Heritage Centre, the town of Nefyn and the famous pub on the beach at Porth Dinllaen where you can stop for a well deserved pint before retrieving your car. Distance 11 miles.
Day 4: Drive to Porth Colmon. We will take you on to Morfa Nefyn from where you will walk along the coast back to your car. This section is noted for being a good place to spot seals and dolphins. Distance 11 miles or less if you wish.
Day 5: Today we will drive you to Porth Oer from where you will follow the coastal path all the way around the headland to Aberdaron itself. This section provides spectacular views from the hills at the tip of the peninsula, both south-west to Bardsey Island and north-east along almost the entire length of the route. It’s a great opportunity to see just how far you’ve come! 11 miles or less if you wish.
Day 6: Walk to Porth Meudwy, across the cliffs from Aberdaron, before taking the Enlli ferry across to Bardsey Island. This is a beautiful place, full of wildlife and steeped in history. Visitors have three hours to explore before returning to the mainland. The cost of the return trip is £25 per head payable to the Bardsey Island Trust, a charity that works to preserve this unique location. You will return circa 3:30pm.
Day 7: Return home, perhaps via the delights of Snowdonia.
