Classic Helambu Trek in Helambu region is easy level. Treks in this region start from Melamchi / Talamarang or Sundarijal. Trekking from Sundarijal ascend to Chisopani, Gulbhanjyang, Mangegot, Tharepati, Melamchi Village and descend to Tarke Ghyang, Sarmathang, Timbu, Kakani, Talamarang an Melamchipul bazaar. And Trekking from Melamchi Pul bazaar / Talamarang ascend to Kakani, Sarmathang, Tarkeghyang, Melamchi Village and trek back. Melamchi Village, Sherpa village is one of very nice villages. Many year before Sangepa Ripoche has done retreat in this place. We call today guru Ripoche cave. Ama Agri: ama means mother and Agri her name: Once a time Yak watcher woman died on this peak and her three sons has constructed a Stupa where they had found her died body. It is very good view point of this area. The Helambu trek start from Chisapani at the eastern end of the Kathmandu valley and does not go beyond 3500m.
It makes a loop through the Sherpa-populated Helambu region to north-east of Kathmandu. The Sherpas in this area are friendly and hospitable. The trek’s main drawback is that it does not offer fine Himalayan views, like some other treks, but it can be trekked on a village inn basis as there are guest houses and lodges in many of the villages along the trail. There are villages of mixed ethnics, Tamang villages and Sherpa villages. The route passes through forest and villages. Rhododendron blossom in March April. Beautiful landscape and Jugal Himal range can be seen from this route.
