Kanchenjungha - Ghunsa Trekking: this area offers the cultural diversity of Rai, Limbu, Chhetri & Brahmin villagers, with the higher regions inhabited by a people of Tibeto-Mongoloid ancestry. This trek provides exploration of extreme eastern part Nepal & should be taken is for experienced trekkers who seek complete escape into the wildest, richest part of the Himalayas.

This trek is also has great for those explorers having natural history interest, with ecological zones from the subtropics to glacial wilderness. Expect close-up views of Kanchenjunga. The trek starts by heading towards the Tamur River past Ghunsa for the north Kangchenjunga Base Camp after flying into Taplejung in a chartered aircraft. There will be optional mountaineering opportunities and is the best option for hikers seeking extended challenge.

In this region especially to the Sikkim another side of Mt. Kanchenjungha, there is an annual festival of ritual and dance dedicated to the ‘Worship of the snow range of Khang-Chen-Dzog-Nga, during the early part of Autumn. As in the classical days of Greek Gods who danced atop Mount Olympus, Lamas dressed in the impressive masks and brocades of the God, prance and whirl against the backdrop of the mountain itself. The main peak of Kanchanjungha is the third highest peak in the world (8,586 m). several other peaks in the Kangchenjunga range are over 8,000m. It is located at Latitude 27° 42' 9'' Longitude 88° 9' 1'.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu, reception at the airport and pick you up from airport to Hotel. (A, B)
Day 2: Guided visit of Kathmandu Valley (A, B)
Day 3: Departure from Kathmandu in the afternoon by night bus (A, B, L, D)
Day 4: Basantpur 2200m (A, B, L, D)
Day 5: From Basantpur to Gupha Pokhari 2930m with the view of Chhamlang, Mera, Everest, Makalu, Lhotse and Kanchenjunga (A, B, L, D)
Day 6: From Gupha Pokhari to Doban 750m through rhododendron and chestnut forest, cultivated field along the rivers (A, B, L, D)
Day 7: Doban to Mitlung 800m 5h along the river and villages (A, B, L, D)
Day 8: Departure from Mitlung to Chirwa 1200m 6h (A, B, L, D)

Day 15: Leaving Lhonak to Pang Pema/Kanchenjunga Base Camp 5140n 4h (A, B, L, D)

Day 17: back to Rambuk Kharka 3950m (A, B, L, D)
Day 18: back to Ghunsa Preparation for the Lapang pass (A, B, L, D)
Day 19: Some porters leave to Tseram via 5 passes Sinion La 4660m and Leaving for Lapsang through rhododendron forest to the Yamotari glacier and climbing from left bank to Naya Kharka 4080m (A, B, L, D)
Day 20: Climbing Rocky mountain to Lapsaga La Phedi- Lapsang La 5110m and camp Lapsang 4300m about 12h (A, B, L, D)
Day 21: excursion to Yalung and Oktang south face base camp of Kanchenjunga (A, B, L, D)
Day 22: Leaving to Tseram 3870m (A, B, L, D)
Day 23: Tseram to Omji Khola camp (A, B, L, D)
Day 24: Omji Khola camp to Phumphe 8h through Rhodo forest, village, rivers (A, B, L, D)
