Outline Itinerary
Day 01 / NOV.03 : Arrival Jayapura - Wamena (L,D)
Arrival at Jayapura. Connect Flight to Wamena at 10.00am or 12.00am (depend on youre your flight arrive in Jayapura. Upon arrive at Wamena, Transfer to Baliem Pilamo htl or similar for check-in. Lunch is served at Hotel, then proceed by car in 10 minutes to Unique Local Market then continue to Aikima north of Baliem valley by short hiking to Suroba in 1-2hours to explore Dani Tribe through traditional hanging bridge. Afternoon back to hotel for dinner and accommodation
Day 02 / NOV.04 : Wamena Dekai (B,L,D)
After breakfast at hotel, transfer on time to the airport for your flight to Dekai, Arrival at Dekai making preparation for the next trip to Senggo and tree house people. Afternoon walking around Dekai to learn about local people and surrounding. Lunch and dinner at small guest house.
Day 03 / NOV.05 : Dekai Down through Brazza River - (B,L,D)
Early morning start your adventure by motorized canoe to Brazza River of Asmat area. Will take about 6-7hours. Lunch and dinner is prepared by your cook and overnight at tents.
Day 04 / NOV.06 : Brazza River - Mabul - (B,L,D)
Continue by motorized canoe sailing up through smaller river to reach Mabul. Today is the time to arrange everything before we start our adventure and porters. After lunch walk around the village and swim to the river. Dinner and stay at tents.
Day 05 - Day 08 / NOV.07 NOV.10 : Koroway Batu Adventure (B,L,D)
We will spend these 04 days trekking is some of the most pristine lowland rain forest in the world. Along the way we will try and stay with the various tribes those inhabit the region. The Korowai are more territorial than the neighboring Kombai. And the Korowai Batu is even more so. These tribes still practice cannibalism, and they can be aggressive. Don't worry they won't eat us. It is ritual cannibalism among the tribe, sometimes walk over the log or fallen tree and crossing the river with or without bridge. This is the tropical rain forest in the vast-green lowland of South Irian Jaya or Papua, there are many exotic things to be discovered and experienced but with a great deal with mosquito, swamp, heat and high humidity (85 - 100%). Our trek in the forest will support by our local porter who carry our bags or gears and will love to help you to do some difficult section of the trip when you need. We arrive in village in the noon, and will meet the first Korowai & Koroway Batu family on their tree house. Korowai Batu also is a nomad people who always move from one place to another at least once every 3 years. They were not live in large group, that at every location of the tree house we only see 2-4 tree house built side by side. The Korowai Batu is a great hunter who hunted pigs, Cus-Cus, birds most of their time in life. After we met the Korowai and family on their tree house, we may interact with them help by our guide and experience their life. Overnight at our tent or at shelter we build near the tree house soon after we arrive. During the time with Koroway or Koroway Batu we can follow their daily activities: hunting, setting trap of wild pigs, gathering Sago flour, fishing in traditional way. We overnight at tree houses or use tents.
Day 09 / NOV.11 : Koroway Yaniruma (B,L,D)
Breakfast, walking to Yaniruma for about 5-6 hours, lunch will serve by boxes en route. Before we arrive in Yaniruma we will stop at the river for a fresh swim and clean up our body from the muddy. Afternoon arrive in Yaniruma, dinner and stay at Mission house or at tents
Day 10 / NOV.12 : Yaniruma Senggo (B,L,D)
Breakfast, by motorized canoe ride down the Backing Dairam river for about 8 10 hours to Senggo. Senggo is one of the big places in Southern region, this place is originally occupied by Citak Mitak tribe, but now there some peoples from outsider come to traders and also the government settlement. Along the way we will see some the tree houses and local peoples catching the fish by local canoe. Lunch will be provided by boxes. Afternoon arrive in Senggo, dinner and stay at simple losmen.
Day 11 / NOV.13 : Senggo Dekai (B,L,D)
By motorized canoe drive up to brazza river back to Dekai. you will be arrive at afternoon. Lunch en route and dinner at small guest houses.
Day 12 / NOV.14 : Dekai Wamena (B,L,D)
Walk to Dekai Airfield to wait the plane to Wamena, sometime the flight delay cause the weather, usually at 10.00am. Arrive in Wamena, transfer to the hotel for lunch, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 13 / NOV.15 : Wamena Spare day ( B,L,D )
We provide one day in case the flight from Dekai Delayed or canceled due to bad weather. If the flight on schedule or not cancel then we will make sightseeing tour to visit some Dani villages in Jiwika Area to see the old mummy, cave and traditional villages around Wamena. Lunch at local restaurant, dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 14 / NOV.16 : Wamena - Jayapura ( B,L,D )
Breakfast at hotel, then transfer to Wamena airport for a flight departure to Jayapura on Trigana. Upon arrival at Sentani airport of Jayapura, transfer to Sentani Indah hotel then touring the area. You will view some of the WW II memorial sites, e.g. : Mc. Arthur Monument at Ifar Gunung, and 2 hour boat excursion in the lake of Sentani to see the local tribe life in the village. Lunch at Yougwa restaurant in the side of lake, afternoon continue touring and visit the museum Abepura and Hamadi market. Dinner and accommodation at Sentani Indah hotel and similar.
Day 15 / NOV.17 : Jayapura Departure (B)
Breakfast at hotel, transfer to the airport for fly to Next destinations
