The Wood Tikchik Lakes System is located in Western Alaska bordered by the Nushagak lowlands on the east and the Wood River Mountains to the west and north. The interconnected lake system consists of five large lakes that drain into the world's largest wild salmon fishery, Bristol Bay. The lake system hosts Arctic Grayling, northern pike, Dolly Varden, rainbow trout, lake trout and all five species of salmon. We have created this trip to show people this jewel of Southwestern Alaska that is threatened by the proposed pebble mine.
Jagged Peaks, high alpine valleys and deep V-shaped inlets give the lake's western arms a fjord like appearance which we will enjoy flying over on our way to the starting point at Lake Kulik. We will fly from Anchorage to the small community of Dillingham on a scheduled flight on Pen Air. From here a small float plane will take us and our gear to the upper lake on the Wood Tikchik Lakes chain. From Lake Kulik we paddle down the Class II Wind River to Mikchalk Lake, down the Peace River to Lake Beverley, then down Agulukpak River to Lake Nerka, then down 5 mile long Agulowak River to Lake Aleknagik and finish the trip in the community of Aleknagik. We will spend two weeks exploring the rich wildlife, fishing and paddling and camp in remote camps. Trip includes all gear such as folding kayaks, paddles, PFD's BRD's, professional guide service, camp meals and fees from Anchorage. Trip length: 120 miles. Notes: Price Includes:
