Katmai National Park is would famous for its bears and volcanic history. This trip leads us into country with some of the densest bear populations in Alaska. We will depart from Anchorage on a scheduled flight to King Salmon. From here a float plane will drop us of at Bay of Islands the beginning of our kayak adventure. We will have the following days to ourselves in total solitude and are on a fairly flexible schedule, paddling our kayaks, watching for wildlife.
We will visit the historic Fure's Cabin and complete a two mile portage to Grosvenor Lake. From there we will continue across the lake and down Grosvenor River, along the Savonovski River, where many bears fish for salmon during their peak season. We will finish at Brooks Camp where we will have time to see the world famous Brooks Falls just a short walk from the lodge. After a night on the fenced in campground at Brooks Camp we will await our bush flight on the legendary Beaver back to King Salmon and on back to Anchorage flying past the edge of the edge of the Alaska Range where on clear days we can see Mt. Redoubt and Mt. Iliamna Volcanoes. Notes: Included
