This is a trekking tour with expedition character designed for a small group. If you are adventure-minded and seek an adventure to combine with your holiday on Bali, this trekking tour is the perfect choice.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival to Surabaya and transfer to Malang town (domestic connection flight on request). Includes: (D).

Day 2: Relaxed, adventurous open-jeep ride to the base of Semeru along a scenic route. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 3: First etappe of trek to Semeru, camp at the base of the summit cone. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 4: Climb Semeru's summit for sunrise, descend to the base camp at a beautiful lake. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 5: Descend and transfer to Cemoro Lawang village at the rim of the Tengger caldera, spectacular views of Bromo volcano. Afternoon to relax. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 6: Free day to explore Bromo volcano and the Tengger caldera. Includes: (B).

Day 7: Sunrise jeep excursion to a spectacular viewpoint of Bromo and Semeru, transfer to the Ijen Plateau, bath in natural hot springs. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 8: Climb of Ijen volcano, visit of the crater, the sulphur deposits, mining sites and the acid crater lake. Transfer to a beach hotel on Bali. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 9: Departure (via Denpasar airport and connecting flight) or extension program. Includes: (B).

Physical requirements

Although not extreme, this tour is challenging, in parts strenuous - only suitable for people in good to excellent physical condition and experience in hiking (walks on partly difficult terrain with steep passages on loose or rocky ground, total hiking walking time up to 8-10 hours, max. horizontal distances up to ca. 15 km, max. climbing during a day: 1000-1500m). If you have doubt about your condition, please contact us.

Equipment: Good walking boots, sun, wind and rain protection, a day-backpack, light and comfortable dressing, at least two good layers of warm clothing and one for wind protection for the ascents and camp nights at high altitude (strong wind possible and temperatures around freezing point), swimming suit, flashlight (torch), mosquito repellent, personal documents.

- Travel to and from Indonesia
- Indonesia Visa (normal 30d. tourist Visa cost currently 25 USD)
- Airport departure tax(es) (for domestic flight ca. 6 USD, int. flights ca. 12 USD, payable on the airport after check-in)
- Personal travel and health insurance
- Snacks or drinks purchased outside of meals as described in the program. Some meals are not included, in order to let everybody freely decide whether to explore the fascinating, delicious and very cheap Indonesian cuisine or stick to more Western-style food, which is also available in most places
- Tips for local staff
- Additional expenses such as souvenirs, extra activities etc.

- Entry fees, visits to parks and archaeological sites etc. as described by the program
- Equipment for camps (tents, mattresses, cooking gear; exception: an own sleeping should be brought)
