This trip is suitable for adrenalin seekers, outdoors enthusiasts, rafters, trekkers, adventure travelers. This is a private group tour, in other words your group will be traveling privately without other passengers. Prices depend on the total size of your group. Ecuador has acquired a well-deserved reputation as a center for adventure activities - not surprising considering it's inviting Andean mountains and volcanoes, mysterious Amazon jungle, and exhilarating wild waters. This tour is an adrenalin-ride from start to finish, certainly not for the faint-hearted!
In just 1 action-packed week we manage to pack in all of the following:
- Mountain biking down the world's highest active volcano
- Trekking in the heart of the Andes
- Horse-riding through lush forest
- Grade III to III+ white-water rafting
- A full day exploring the Amazon Rain forest.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival Quito. Our driver will meet you in airport arrivals and transport you to Hotel Vieja Cuba - a relaxed hotel close to the vibrant new town part of the city. Free time to relax and acclimatise to your new surroundings.
Day 2: Mountain biking: Cotopaxi - a full day of downhill adventure in the beautiful Cotopaxi National Park. The action starts just below the volcano refuge with a series of switchbacks, and then takes you along mostly flat or descending trails in the park. After a day of exertion we retire to a cozy old farmhouse just outside the park. Includes: (B).
Day 3: Trekking: Corazon Volcano - still in the heart of the Andean mountains today is all about endurance. The Corazon climb is non-technical but strenuous and takes approximately 5 hours to the 4788 metre summit where on a clear day you are rewarded with stunning views of the valley of volcanoes. Another relaxing night at the farmhouse hostel. Includes: (B).
Day 4: Horse-riding: Tena - morning transfer to our rustic lodge in the Amazon rain forest equipped with rustic-style, comfortable cabanas and hammocks to relax in. After lunch an excursion horse-riding through rivers and brooklets, up hills, and through forest of beautiful flora with wonderful views along the way. Accommodation at the rain forest lodge. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: Amazon exploration: Tena - an unforgettable experience in the rain forest begins in a small community on the Arajuno River aboard a motorized dugout canoe. Expect to be introduced to the flora and fauna of the region and learn about medicinal plants during walks and canoe trips. Accommodation at the rain forest lodge. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6: Rafting: Tena - today is white-water fun all the way. The Jatunyacu River is graded class III/III+ taking you alternately through exhilarating rapids followed by quiet stretches to catch your breath and take in the scenery. Today's itinerary may change depending upon weather conditions and water level. Accommodation at the rain forest lodge. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7: Return to Quito. After breakfast we leave the lodge for return journey to Quito. Optional stop on-route at the Papallacta hot springs to soothe away the efforts of the week in the rejuvenating natural waters. Overnight at Vieja Cuba in Quito. Includes: (B).
Day 8: Tour end. After breakfast our driver will transfer you to the airport for your flight out. Includes: (B).
All activities are run with the very best operators in the country using the highest standards of safety equipment available. The tour is designed to run starting on any day of the week desired. We also offer a full range of add-on tours and products that we would be happy to help out with.
